  1. *feel free to move this topic, wasn't to sure where to place it*

    Hi guys,

Non o/s related but thought some of our lovely people may have a idea on where to find drop spindles..

I recently brought a new (new for me) ute for work, 99 courier double cab turbo diesel thingy and its low... like real low. 4 inch reset leaves with two inch blocks, and front is max wound down torsion bars on bump stops. Rear isnt to bad as it has those wee 10mm after market bump stop button type things so offers around 30mm of travel.

With 15x8 -24's steels on it it looks quite good, although to low in the rear and to much offset in the front.

So my plan is to try and get it as close to this low as I can on a budget while keeping the wof man happy.

Plan in my mind so far is remove rear blocks, maybe try and find 1 inch blocks instead for a little more travel, drop spindles in the front so I can dial in 50mm worth of travel on stock bump stops, maybe try and find after market smaller b.stops and get some new front steels at 0 offset to keep them within the front guards, Rear guards have been pumped out a little so the wheels sit nicely under. Although im a little worried about chewing through bearings in the back..

Anyhow, any advice people? any ideas where on who to talk to about these things? Being in wellington may make it abit harder...

    Cheers

  2. Sooo, what's the plan for This?

    Oh hi..

Sorry, my plans for Sunday have now been over ruled by family type stuff so this is going to be a no go for me. However being it was partly Grinters idea he may wish to take the lead? Maybe..

Yea, sorry guys. My day has just become to busy and the wag has no wof or reg so I'm out

  3. Hi all,

So, had a few borts and baznazas with the Grinter tonight and decided it would be a flaming shame to not hold a fathers day cruise this year! I for one being a first time daddy this year and also the fact that fathers day happens to fall on my birthday seem to think this is a fuckn fantastic idea!

Wether it be to have some time out from the wife and kids, or just a good reason to take the o/s whip out for its maiden voyage of the spring season.

This is not strickley a fathers only type thing, everybody is welcome, wife, kids what have you. Just think of it as the first cruise of the to be summer with some cold doobros and a snarler sizzle!

Ideas on where to go and what to do are more than welcome!

However in saying that, the rough idea we came up with in our 42 second conversation was maybe a early arvo meet (as dads are guna want to go to yum cha for lunch) in the northern wellington region, paramata inlet area?

    Anyhow, post ideas below....

    Chur!

    13 x fuck knows (maybe 5?) tyres are 155/80's..

Was going to give a polish up and use as spears for the wag, but i'd say race car is a far better fitting home..

Let me know if your keen

  5. Unfortunately after another test drive around the block I made the unwise decision to raise it back up.. Cant say I'm to pleased about this but the 172km trip to wagnats would just be unbearable..

Have spent many a year rolling around in shit heaps with cuttys and what not and I'm sure as shit that I don't recall them ever being this bad! Was way to afraid to attempt hitting the open road limit, 50km was bad enough... So it looks like I won't be winning the 'how is that so slammed' award this year (dammit!)

On a positive note I did learn that I have no interference issues at that height (other than front bump stops) so looks like I'll have to start saving to build some adjustables. Seems there is a few options out there, but most info I have found has be in regards to strut swaps, ae85/86 seems the best option but pretty rare these days so I'm more likely going to stick with ke20 sturts, with aw11 inserts. Also want to incorporate a better braking system while at it, have seen a little info to do with using a u13 bluebird front rotor and sw20 mr2 calipers, as far as I can tell other that a little machining of the hub, hubcentric rings and caliper brackets its not to much work.. However we will see...

If anybody has any other ideas for a cheap(ish) coil-over and brake upgrade let me know, Its not something I intend of having sorted anytime soon but I do want to start collecting parts...

  6. Decided that since Wagnats is just around the corner it would be in my best interests to install some one off custom one way makita  racing springs and lose a leaf out of the rear. I think the results will speak for themselves..

Rear is still a little high but with a zero dollar budget it came out ok..

Turns out its still a little to high as it only took around half a hour with some 4x2 and jacks to get it out of my garage!

Now the only problem is that wagnats is some 150+ kms away and it drives like a utter bucket of shit (who ever would have guessed!?) Didnt leave a 50km area and even that was to fast for my liking...

So all signs lead to it being back up at previous height by then... Such a shame as it looks so lush!
