  1. Coincidentally I went to 4 stores today looking for that exact thing and bought the 2nd on the list above from super cheap, it works great especially with the random orbit.

The guys at repco had a nice mothers kit with one of those 2 handle polishers but I backed off once I saw the polisher had a 60w motor.

Driveby, where did you buy the extra pads from?

Lake Country pads from detail depot. Not cheap but were good, think I got blue, white and orange from memory.

Have a quick google about the difference between a DA polisher (the second one) and rotary polisher. I think you need to suss a good technique for the rotary but it can give better results but also can damage paint if used incorrectly. DA can't do damage but needs more effort/pressure to get good result.

  2. I have the second one and used it to cut/polish the daily. Black Beemer with swirls etc.. Bought good quality pads online of different density, Meguiars 105 and 205 compound and it did the trick really well. Good thing with the DA is you can't fuck it up, the rotary apparently you can do damage to the paint if you don't use it properly. Don't think I've got any before and after photos but it was good, would trade again etc...

  3. Max passengers and still be travelling a long way or just max people jammed in a car? Can remember back in the days when no-one cared about seat belts being one of 11 going to scout camp in our leader's XC Falcon sedan, 5 in the front, 6 in the back. Brother's mate taking 8 in a Mini must have been even less comfortable though.

Column shift but Scout Leader still trying to floor change with his wandering hands?

  4. Thats def not a jap import from your other picture. It's a euro import or possibly NZ new. Has euro front number plate holder, EX decal on the side which was euro/NZ. It's either been assigned the wrong VIN or has tags from a narrow body. A187a should be the chassis code regardless of engine size unless widebody DASH then will be a184a. Still cool!

  5. Have owned a couple of 3k's, one in a ke20, one in a ke36 and they are pretty reliable. The ke20 was a flat car in Dunedin and it wasn't looked after well, never had any issues even after the leaking radiator ran out of water. Top speed we managed was 92 miles an hour downhill but was ringing its tits out. Will sit on 100k easily if you can stand the general noise. KE36 leaked quite a bit of oil from engine, diff etc but just top up and go and never had problems. Had done close to 300k too as far as I can recall. Get one. Easy to work on, parts are cheap, resale seems good too if you hate it. Good luck.

  6. Have you thought about getting upholsterers to bond material to the underneath surface to hold the split together and reinforce the whole section? I have the same problem. Like a big patch glued to the back to stop any seams splitting. It won't be seen if done right. Could also reinforce passengers too.
