  1. well now i'm wondering whats going on. I changed the altenator last weekend to a second hand one i've had for a while, barely drove the car all week but it seemed ok, was charging etc, now I drive back to napier tonight and light starts flashing again, as the light flashes on my headlights got brighter.

god dam electrics. anyone have any ideas?

  2. cant be fucked reading all this

    Steel wool and window cleaner

    Works on rubber seals also

trust me, i did this shit for years

    You wont find something better

I see your steel wool and glass cleaner and raise you steel wool and cutting compound, will also get rid of the water marks on your windows/seedys way probably does too

  3. buzzer sounds like a better idea to me. however have to be careful when shutting off the car if you did loose oil pressure. heard of a guy with a camaro whose oil pressure light came on so he just turned the key right off, steering lock came on and he woke up upside down in a ditch

  4. went for a drive today (Napier to palmy and back) and my battery light was flashing on then going off again for most of the trip then about a couple of k's from home it came on and stayed on, when I stopped there was a smell of hot/burning electrics and the altenator was pretty hot (not sure if it normally is). I tested the battery and it had about 15v running with lights and radio on. I have recently replaced the brushes and bearings in the altenator. its got me beat, any ideas?

  5. Yes you need some kind of receipt to show the transfer of ownership of the vehicle went ahead from the last registered owner to you. Then you need their name and address to give to the outfit who re-register the car, along with proof it has been on the road previously (number plate, WOF, rego slip etc) and a notice from the police that it isn't of any interest to them.

interested in this too, both my project and car I'm hoping to buy have been out of the system for ages and I have no proof of them being on nz roads (except code on ID plate saying its nz new, not sure if thats enough) but in this case can you not just get it revinned the way you do if you brought in a car from overseas?

  6. if I remember rightly there was an article in the latest petrolhead (or it might have been the one before) about a place making US style plates to suit nz numbers so perhaps they would be worth a shot, will try dig out the company name when I get a chance.

  7. to be honest you can't beat a good tank off clean out and if you have an alloy ptr (plastic tank rad) a clean out shouldn't cost much more than 75 bucks, well thats what i charge anyway, in this case I'd be getting one of those flushes from repco and putting it through then taking the rad out for a tank off flush. however I've never had experience with these crystals however would be dubious about them eating the tank seals
