What the fuck.
Awaiting the 'genuine reason for sale' bullshit.
What would be a non-genuine reason for sale? 'Genuine reason for sale' makes no sense to me, regardless of the reason.

Is he the same guy that created the American warplane inspired car that was at CRC Speedshow a couple of years ago?

It's like Australians suffer from some sort of reverse anorexia with their cars. It doesn't matter how big the wheels are, they always need to be bigger and shinier. AusRXia.

4 & Rotary Nats burnout competition? And it landed in the crowd, quite close to us.

Shit yeah, I'd love a 3rd gen Prelude. I don't think there's a tidy and original one left on the planet though.

My latest twin rotor purchase over the weekend. I think I've already had more seat time with this, over my other vehicles so far this year.

Awesome, thank you. Are you able to measure the height of the letters for me?

Ahoy hoy,
I have a customer who wants me to create a square number plate for his motorbike 'for display purposes only'.
I've seen the occasional one around, but I can't find any info about them.
Does anyone on here have one, and would they be so kind as to give me a couple of measurements?

I'd always wanted to race in a sanctioned race series, so I am glad that I achieved that goal with my FD in Pro7, but it was an expensive lesson, that's for sure. My car sits in the garage doing nothing now, because the fun:cost ratio is ratio is pretty low, and it's not road legal.
I would so much rather have a road legal RX-7 that I could take almost anywhere whenever I feel like it like Mild Michael, with a few club events and track days every now and again.
My car may be too far gone to get back to a streetable vehicle, but I think I might give it a go anyway. Lucky I didn't throw away things like the pop-up headlights, but the on/off clutch, swiss cheese flywheel, and stupidly loud exhaust won't be much use to me now.

Those front guards on the red one have always been my favourite for wider options.
And my fav vented bonnet is the one from FEED.
Both are nice and subtle.

Hmm, wouldn't mind an RX-8 for a paddock basher.

-apex seals: to do
That's not a finishing requirement - apex seals are just part of regular maintenance, like refueling.

90% !? since when? have you bought a second one?
Yeah, I reckon it would have been at 90% at some point. Based on time and money required to finish it, anyway.
- Body: done
- Interior: Was done, until I stole some bits and put them in my S6
- Suspension: done
- Brakes: done (but I've gone backwards here since)
- Wheels/tyres: done
- Engine: brand new PP sitting on the floor, but I still need intake, exhaust and ECU
- Drivetrain: done
- Stupid little time consuming and expensive bits: done
- Wiring: To do
- Tuning: To do
- Skids: To do

Firstly, I'm insulted that you called it a shell. At one point it was at least 90% finished.
Secondly, it ain't for sale.
Thirdly, if I was to buy your rubbers, it would be for another project, as my current ones are lovely. Assuming the part numbers for S1-3 rubbers are the same?
Fourthly, how do you add Emoticons when you're posting from a stupid iPad? There should be a smiley after the first 2 points above.
-
Which rubbers do you have, and what do you want for them?

Barn find!
Clearing out the old workshop tonight and I found this tucked in the back corner. Poor thing hasn't been worked on for a few years, and a few parts have been removed for other projects. The owner really needs to pull his finger out and finish it, or it'll end up beating Old Man Southern's record for longest unfinished project on Oldschool.

Not tempted to turbo.
An NA rotary making about the same power as my Series 6 or a RENESIS would be ideal, I reckon.
-
Oh yeah, prior to the FD comparison that made sense, then out of nowhere, BLAM!
Still, i see what you're saying but really, out of the box is the AW that great or do you need to fettle it down and add more boost to the supercharger? I don't imagine an NA AW is too amazing either, TBH. I don't know what options the NA MX came with but if they offered a forced induction example and the additional suspension jiggery pokery that would likely inspire, I'm sure it would be a better car.
Brent, you has MX5, yeah? What's your thoughts?
I think the NA MX5 has a lot of similarities to a first gen RX-7 (excluding the turbo ones) - three of them being the things that Ed doesn't like about MX5s: interior, steering and lack of power.
I've enjoyed mine on the streets as an occasional daily, as you can have a lot of fun in them without breaking the speed limit much. Definitely not a comfortable car for long distance though, although that does have quite a bit to do with a lack of interior, hard suspension and low profile tyres on mine.
I really noticed how gutless it was at the Oldschool trackday at Taupo a couple of months back. I got bored of driving in a straight line pretty quickly, so I spent most of the day cruising along the straights and throwing it into corners. When we had the casual drags down the back straight at the end of the day, my car was literally the slowest out of everyone.
Pic for reference (that side of the car is all straight and freshly painted now):
I'll be putting an NA 13B into this car once I've done a bit more on my other projects.

Ed, I saw your comment in spam about not liking RX-8s much (which is fair enough). Have you driven one before? Just curious to know what others think of them from a driving point of view.
I took one for a test drive years ago, but I had my young nephew with me at the time so I couldn't really drive it to its full potential.

What do you mean, maybe?

I just don't understand how so many people have 50-100k cash to spend on a weekender car these days. And it's not just baby boomers and midlife crisis folks either.
