  1. Nice HQ, I learn't to drive in a SW version.

The car in the picture I dont think is a Premier, you can see the Kingswood badge on the front guard, and the Prem would also have a decorative panel on the lower sill.

The proof is in the chassis number, a early HQ Prem will a VIN plate starting with 8WP for a NZ assembled car) or 8P for Aussie assem, a Kingswood will have a VIN of 8WN or 8N.

The chassis number turns out to be a little arse about face.

It's a bit of a mongrel it was assembled in NZ at the end of the line when they were doing the HQ's for the 70something commonwealth games so it managed to get the kingswood badge and singles on the front. The prem seats and dash and the rear piller badges.

As well as the 4 wheel disks and LSD diff...

The sill decorative plates were removed by the father years ago when they were removed and rust was found underneath.

The chassis number says it should be white(which was the color for the games Specials) but we have taken it back to bare metal and there is no white anywhere on it..

  2. Twin lamps are it! I have a pic of this car from a meet where it has twin headlights.

I have seen the white turbo one. I was driving mine at the time dont think the guy saw tho.

Its completely white! Very cool tho!

    gr1018.jpg

What year is the one you have? Looks like a late chin spoiler.

Yeah i love my twin conversion!!!!!

    Mine is an 84.

Na the chin spoiler came on the JDM turbo models.

I had to use a non turbo bumper cause mine was poked when i bought the car and i fitted the Turb chin to it.

  3. OMG there are Piazza cruises?!? :P

I mean, they're awesome cars but hardly common - Google's first search result was Piazza pizza ovens. "More than a cooking appliance, Piazza ovens are described as an entertainment centre. Dont gather around the TV, bring the family outside and get them involved in the cooking fun!"

And look at that guy on the left, hogging two carparks so nobody dings his car with their door.. :doubt:

I know all four of those cars. i was on that cruise..

The car on the far left is owned buy a mate in Auckland and is a limited edition Nero Irmisher turbo.

Probably the nicest example in the country. hence the two park space...

2nd one in is the new addition to the Oldschool stable. (when it had the twins)

The white one 3rd from the right is also a Nero turbo.

The 4th one is also a rare example known as the Bella" (plush interior that sort of thing)owned buy same mate from Aucks

And the red one half hidden behind the road sign is same mates red XS turbo.

    Yes he has Three Piazza's

There are other photos of the next years cruise floating around somewhere....

Mine went up for that one..

  4. even additions? e.g. tieing in the front strut towers if they weren't originally?

    6) Modification of a Homologated Safety Cage / Safety Rollbar

It is possible to perform modifications to a Schedule A ‘homologated’ or Schedule AA ‘approved’ safety

    cage or safety rollbar under the following conditions;

    • All proposed modifications should be presented to the MSNZ Technical Department for approval

    prior to any work commencing.

    • Once the proposed modification has been completed an Extension Application Form (Form

T004) shall be completed and submitted to the MSNZ Technical Department for acceptance and

update (re-validation) of the existing homologation.

    • An Extension Application is only valid where tube members are added that are not part of the

principal structure. This will include; side intrusion bars, harness mounting bars, reinforcements,

    and gussets.

    • The existing homologation number will be retained.

    • An Extension Application can not be used where any tube members are introduced that form

    part of the principle structure. In this case a new application will be required. (As an example;

the addition of two lateral rollbars and a connecting member to a Safety Rollbar will require a

new application. A new homologation number will be issued).

    • Any permanent modification to a homologated structure will invalidate the original certification

hence an extension certificate must be issued to re-validate the homologation / approval before

the vehicle can be used in competition.

  5. I think he mentioned that they were going to weld that up but the point is that thats the only part of the cage they need done

Yes but the whole cage will need to be re homologated if there are any changes or additions to the original designs used.

Any additions, repairs or modification to roll protection structure requires the whole cage to be re complied.

  8. Im pretty sure it wouldnt be the only slant 4 2.3 with webers on it though.. somebody else would have dont it before, so theres either gotta be other manifolds or somebody who can make you one up

The lotus slant 4's used 45 dellortos

Yeah and twin cam heads, altered oil pump, cams, blah blah blah...

there were a lot of different versions of the same base motor built depending on what car they went into...

    But it's here.

    Pm me if your keen.

  10. That place has a pretty scary past...

Fucked if i would live there...

    From Wiki....

Seacliff Lunatic Asylum (often only Seacliff Asylum, later Seacliff Mental Hospital) was a psychiatric hospital in Seacliff, New Zealand. When built in the late 19th century, it was the largest building in the country, noted for its scale and extravagant architecture. It would also become infamous for construction faults resulting in partial collapse, as well as a massive fire in 1942 that tore through a wooden outbuilding, claiming 37 (39 according to others) victims trapped in a locked ward.[1][2]

  11. Na didn't post just for kicks....

If i wanted to do that i woulda joined a Mitzi forum...

Just thought i was kinda oldskool in rally/race circles, and would see what the lads here thought.

Some prems were imported with the single lights....

I won't tell ya what i got the RS for cause i got it pretty cheap.

For a ready to race RS your looking around the 10k mark.

Mine competed and finished the Targa in 2007 so is a proven car.

  12. Whats it running engine/turbo wise?

    Which one?

    The piazza?

Looks like i ruffled a few feathers.... Fair enough it's not your guys version of oldskool.. Sweet as.

When i get a chance to take some decent pics of my other toys i will post them up.

    Here is the HQ

  13. the prem is bog standard apart from a holley i had to put on cause the old carb was toast....

Even the radio tape deck is original factory.

This car has been in the family for all but three years of it's life and was taken off the road and the original motor given a complete rebuild three years ago.

Will get some pics up when i can dig out the files.

  14. .

    It's all good..

Just showing that i do have oldskool as-well....

Thats why i left the Chevette forum....

    K Guys.

I may even have some Piazza parts that will need to go to make way for Leggy parts..

Couple of turbo diff's/ Gearboxes. brakes may even need to part with one of spare turbo motors i have stashed..

    Probably quite cheap too.

  15. Heres my piazza......

Bought for $150 two years ago... now running 12psi boost and a few cosmetic additions.

This is the flatmate for the leggy...
