  1. Yea im pretty sure its not coil related. it seems to idle sweet on first start up and thn if you leave it at idle then it just gradually gets worse until it dies. Im still thinking carby or timing. Im gonna pull carb apart today to see if any jets are blocked and after that I will need to borrow a timing light.

    Just a quick question Ifa coil is fucked can it work intermittantly? or will it just not work?

  2. lol scrap the timing idea. I now think it is the carburettor. I will whip that off and check the jets etc. some fuck head has replaced a fuel line with non fuel specific hose and the hose has all perished an shit. Im thinking that this would have blocked up jets an shit. I hope so anyways.

Okay this is fucking me off. the plugs were fouled to hell and had a huuuuuge gap. so I put new plug in it. it ran, I was like sweet took it for a drive and under ay power it start spluttering and backfiring. I am thinking that it timing now, But i dont have a timing light and I only vaugely now how to check/check timing anyways.

    Can anyone in Christchurch come round and give me a hand. I will throw some beers your way if you can.

  5. Hey chch members. I am trying to get my wags to run with no luck so far. I have a POS $10socket set that is fucked and a pair of long noise pliers. (fuck I hate not having tools). Is ther anybody pref. in the riccarton area, that can lend me a socket set(with plug socket inc) because I cant do anything with the shit ive got currently.

    I will pay in beers for the loan.

  7. Parked up and she was running fine. Now it really struggles to start and when it does it misses like a fuckin blind man at pool. I have checked distributor cap and leads etc. I have a feeling it may be the coil but how do I check if the coil is working/not working.

    ps. the only reason i have a feeling that it is the coil because that is basically all I havent checked.

  8. So i took my car for a drive in the rain on friday and saturday, It was running mint. went to drive it sunday arvo and it wouldnt run properly. Was missing heaps. So i figured it would be mousture. cleand dizzy cap and checked for cracks. it was dry and not cracked, checked ht and plugleads all seemed fine. I just grabbed my ballast resistor next to the coil and burnt my hand. should it be this hot after I only 30secs of running. I know it is a resistor and I know that they get hot but this was fucking hot.

  9. Ive been on the look out for a daily in christchurch for a while and I had 3 criteria to fill. It wad to be a wagon, it had to be cheap and it had to be cheap. lol

    I was fishin round on trademe and found my perfect car, a baby blue 1984 Bluebird 910 wagon with 160kays on the clock

    full of l20b goodness and backed up by the mighty auto. The paint work is remarkable. there are no visible dents or repairs and I picked it up for a song.

    for now the plans are to drop it lots and keep my eyes out for a set of rims/widend steels.

  10. sweet. it the l20b model if that makes any difference. how hard are the stem seals to do? like a saturday out in the morning and back together before its time to drink or is it a cunt of a job that ppl go "nah she can smoke cos I hate doing stem seals"

  11. I just bought a 910 wagon. lol dont ask me why, impulse buy. Stem seals are gone on it so she smokes like *insert somthing that smoke alot that I cant think of* on start up but clears after that. Would it be worth doing seals or just whack a good head on it.
