  1. Yeah I figure its pretty much par for a 40 year old car. I wouldnt be worried at all if I didnt have to fix it all by march haha.

  2. Fuel tank, fuel lines, front subframe broken, susp. bushes all around, LCA in the front is pwnt, rust, top shock mount in rear, brakes need rebuilding all round, rust, paint, diff mounts are fucked, CV boots and the internal drum handbrake thingy is fuuuuucked on one side.

Not all on that list is needed to be fixed for Nats but most of them will stop me getting a wof haha. Also I need to make me some struts that arent uncaptve by ~100mm(zip ties and hose clamps sorted me to this point but if I get time it would be nice haha)

As I say, its all doable, its just going to cost me cubic dollars to get it sorted in time.

/I have no job after Jan so looks like Im on to a winner

  3. Soon after that^ I drove it up north so it could live in a nice warm garage while I ignored it for a while. Over the last few days I have been returning the height to standard and sorting out what I thought was going to be a few small items for its upcoming WOF.

    Holy lol.

The more I started working on it the more scary I found. None of it is unfixable but it means a few things will require temporary fixes just to get by until after I try to take it to Nats.

This is a super pointless update but I am waiting for some paint to dry and I cbf starting another job so I am just wasting time yup yup.

Here is a pic because threads suck without them

EDIT: Also, fuck the fuel system in these things. My evening tonight is going to be spent trying to trouble shoot a 40 year old EFI system. Fun fun fun

  4. Stop mucking around with stuff that isnt final. Cut the struts down and get them welded up and then throw your legit short shocks in and have another play.

Do you reckon a couple of hose clamps around the strut tube would take the weight of the car to test it? I like testing things before gluing them on with metal.

  5. my lower spring perch had a big ass grub screw that I could mock things up but I ended up just doing the just captive and then move it down a bit for mo slam.

I would run some calcs just in case so you have a rough idea of where things sit but I am weird and take way too long to do anything.

  6. A pipe cutter also works mean to mark a straight line for you to slice with a grinder. Also a piece of paper wrapped around the shaft gives you a mean line to mark - the wider the bit of paper the straighter the line

Last time I rung up george stocks in auckland they had the correct shocks on the shelf etc. (koni rather than kyb) and they were around $110 each trade haha.

  7. Have a look in Simon's corona coupe thread. Add baffles to factory tank as well as a bug ass in tank pump. If you got skills/hookups it'll be cheap and quiet. External pumps be noisy as fuck.

I think surge tanks look dumb and if I couldn't hide it under the car I'd be doing the add baffles thing.
