  1. My alternator just died, was thinking about upgrading anyway. was thinking of using a falcon or commodore 55a alternator. Dont know what kind of pulley belt they use.

    hav any1 upgraded alternators on the pinto? if so what did you use....

  2. Im not saying your car looks shit, im just saying your choice of tyres/wheel is shit. and since there isnt enough room for larger tyres, why not get a slightly smaller rims because this combo obviously was never going to work...

  3. Thats why i took them off and got some smaller tyres, but the rubbing isnt the gay thing, the gay thing is the tyre width to wheel width. Whats the point of putting such a small tyre on such a wide wheel? If its for looks, it looks stupid...

  4. Cheers fullas, i went into Roskilda autos today on my way past, he reckons 200-600 buks depending on how much stuff i have wrong like jets and venturies...

    Has heaps of pictures of escorts on his shop wall from when he rallied them so i would say he knows what he's up to...

    Will give keith stewart a ring sometime this week too and see what he reckons...

  5. Im looking at putting my escort on the dyno sometime in the future, its running twin 45 dellortos and was wondering if anyone knows a place that specialize in carby tuning. The only place i know of in palmy is speedworks but i don't know what they are like.... Palmy would be easiest but can go elsewhere if i have to...

Done quite a bit of work on the escort over the xmas holiday, taken it for a wof(just to see wat it needs before a cert) failed on no cert, brake imbalance, draging drum and inner rack end. nothing bad so im pretty stoked. will fix all that over the next couple weeks, get the carbs tuned(for emissions) then go for a cert finally.

    Engine bay got striped back, primed then painted. all the loom was redone for the 2L etc...

    Shifter hole moved and gearbox mounts welded on(see how they go for a cert)

    Didnt turn out too bad, just needs a panel and a paint to finish it off(and the c pillar trim if any1 has some?)

    The black escort is now siting behind the shed with no engine or anything else for that matter, if any1 wants an escort thats got a "couple" of rust problems, a welded diff, front suspension and not much else, hit me up(going cheap)

  7. Ive just put a sport dash into my escort running a 2L pinto, i was running an aftermarket gauge before but i want to use the factory one now. I have tried the sender from the 1300, when i turn the ignition on it goes to cold, i ran it up until the thermostat opened and the temp gauge doesn't move. I know the gauge is working fine. The sender i tried could be faulty. Does any one know if i need the sender from a sport or are they all the same?

    Its a XA GT Replica, doesnt hav all the gt bits it need to be a proper replica though.

    Has a couple of tiny bits of rust that need attention, nothing bad. Main thing it needs is a cert for the engine/tranz. shouldnt be too hard to get(i hope).

    Interior needs a bit of a tidy, most of it is in pretty good nick. will look a lot better with some new carpets.

  9. Had a week off work, went back home to Te Puke where my escort lives(in my parents garage) and got stuck into it...

    Bit of rust in the C pillar that sanded out easy...

    made up a new part of the tunnel, good practice for me with my new tig welder(cant say im a very good welder yet)

    Didnt turn out as well as i hoped but it will do the job and should look ok when it gets a bit of paint/under seal on it.

    Also picked up a complete cortina 2L and 4 speed for $150 off a friend of a friend, that will go in while i get round to making all the manifolds/save some money for a turbo set up.

    Cheers for the site with the manuals, i saw a hard copy of that rally prep one a while back and have been looking for it for a while now... Heaps of good shit in it.

    Not knowing what i was doing when i got the car i missed this little bit of rust :shock: (which was hidden under space invader foam and bog lol) Gota learn some how i guess... Got that repaired and got to work on the 2L 5 speed conversion.

    Pretty hot 2L, never really got the 45 dellortos running that good. But will sort them out before i start rallying :D

    The main reason i decided to turn it into a rally car was because the body is a mess, and i may have had a little bit too much "over steer" on the gravel one day and met with the bank. No major damage, but why stop there...

    Yeh, im pretty keen on forest flares, wouldnt have a clue how to attach them though, cant be that hard tho.

    Will post some pics of my rally project(still in the early stages). Havnt got any pics of how it is now, just how it was when it was on the road...
