  1. Cheers guys. I managed to pick up a pair of mint Princess calipers CHEAP! Otherwise I was thinking about going the Volvo way. Watch this space!
  2. Has anyone fitted 4 pot Princess brakes to mk2 Esky? Do they bolt straight on (if I use Capri 2.8i rotors)? Or do I need to use a spacer kit?
  3. Got it sorted finally. Used a MK1 throttle cable. Cut the ball end off and shortened the outer shield , filed the ball off the throttle pedal and fitted a clamp type bolt through hole, attached cable to pedal, added chocolate connector to cable for extra insurance, made up throttle bracket off engine mount bolt, attached to carb, set throttle cable to get full throttle and made sure throttle returned fully. Goes a lot better than 32/36 downdraught. Don't use Lynx throttle linkage kit - absolutely no good. Better to get proper Weber linkage then no probs, just more expensive.
  4. Has anyone used a single dcoe carb on a 1600 x/flow esky? I'm having trouble trying to get throttle cable to suit. I've now been told I need to use a MK1 cable. Can anyone enlighten me on what they've done? Cheers

    Pinto Upgrades

I read the last thread and went back to the start to see what the fuss was about. Just thought my little spec would be of interest.

    Pinto Upgrades

Nope - Cosworth blocks are 205 blocks, used in 1988- ford SOHC and DOHC sierras. These have thicker cylinder walls. (the internals on the standard 205 block are more heavy duty than the standard pinto block - but obviously not up to cosworth standards) The early cossie blocks were the famous 205 but the later blocks (on the 4wd) are a 200 block. Stronger, thicker castings and no core plug and also a thicker rear flange. To get real hp from a pinto you need to use YB cossie crank stroked to 88mm, cossie steel H section rods, fordged pistons oversized to 93 or if poss 94mm, ultra lightweight flywheel. Then the head will need some serious head work. Huge valves, big ports, or better yet an alloy race head (which will cost the same as a cast one all done up) and then either injection system or HUGE carbs (48's or bigger). After all this you'll find buying a cossie YB motor and using that will be cheaper - sort of.
  7. I would make sure battery terminals are clean. Take off clamps and give terminals a rub up with emery cloth or a piece of sandpaper. Also make sure the earth terminal on the engine block and the body are making a good contact as well. If there's a spark coming from battery the terminal might be covered in a sulphur dioxide coating (makes the terminal look a dark or black colour). Try the easy stuff first then if no luck look deeper.
