  1. Awesome car mate.

I really love this and the RA28 celica shape and the way they drive (only ever driven standard ones).

Your workmanship is a huge credit to your ability to visualise the outcome.

Can't wait to see more from you in the future

  2.

I found a bunch of NOS louvres the other day, thanks to Shakotom.

None of them had fitment or application guides so I left my email address for them to contact me on once they'd identified which cars they were for.

I didn't think they'd bother getting back to me but to my surprise they did! All louvres are brand new, hre's the list:

317          Cordia AA, AB,AC 2 doors hatchback  83-86    92x74x114 no brake light window
    324           Sigma   Sedan  GR,GS,GT,GVF, 82-84              102x56x128  no wiper
334           Sigma   sedan  GW, GY  V3000  85-91              112x68x135  no wiper
    422           Skyline   sedan   86-90                                          107x60x144  no wiper
124           Corolla liftback   very old                                         96x64x109
    338           Magna  93-96                                                          105x68x131
    253           Falcon EF   sedan   94-                                          124x69x152
    265           Laser  sedan   KF-KH   90-94                               142x54x113
    KH321      626  hatchback  83-  UK model                            125x66x104

Might be something of use in there. I believe they also have a NOS louvre for a T series Holden/Isuzu Gemini sedan. May fit a Chevette too? T car guys will know.

Corolla one is probably for an EE80

I was asked by a young fella (who came up with some doozie memorable moments) once "Are the louvres listed with the wiper piece for the front of the car"

Once I had gained composure I explained that some cars had rear wipers lol

  3. the worst thing is when you bid on something then a couple days later you don't need it and you have to quickly make a hotmail account and a new trademe account to out bid your self

Funny as bro, I reckon that has happened to me being the seller lol

  4.

    Stupid question.

Would it be possible to move the linkage to inboard and leave the master and booster where it is?

Another option may be a cable, you could use a gear change or clutch cable?

This would still use the stock master and booster in the normal position and making parts easier in the future.

It may still require a cert but I doubt anyone would notice.

I think you could do it with a morse typed cable as they are solid.

Personally i would look at after market race typed products as the are usually easy to retrofit

  5. Check your valve clearances before spending any money, 4thou (old school) can make or break the compression feel by hand.

It is very common for those engines to wear to having tight tappets due to valve recession.

  6. Bike carbs are harder to achieve performance unless your engine performs like the bike they are off.

My brother and I built a 4k with way over bored, a crazy light flywheel and a huge cam.

It would pull 12krpm but it was a handfull and crap at low revs/speeds.

I have built a kent with twin 36mm side draughts with a mild cam and minor porting.

It went well but when we fitted a single 45mm side draught, we had more go less fuel consumption and more torque.

I can't remenber the loss of hp but the torque gain was 3ft/lbs.

Still had the side draught noise but more of a different sound

Most on here will tell you......

If it is your daily, keep it reliable or it will soon be the reason you can't be where you want to be (money and time wise)

  7. Bike carbs will out preform side draughts in most altitude if you have them right.

Efi usually has some form of variable which will tune to suit.

If you want someting a little different and cheaper to build, go turbo or supercharged. That way you get more bang for your buck and the power isn't all near the top (which it will be with and well modded n/a engine).

Personally after building many of these kents, I would go for the later model zetec or durtec for share reliability and ease of running pump gas.

  8. After you get it clean,I highly recomend putting in the Risolene stop leak stuff.

I have put it in cars and watched it seal cracks in radiators 3 inches long.

You can also run it with most antifreez/antiboil brands and types.

I think the 4cyl stuff is around $14 so cheap insurance (also has fixed a few water pumps too)
