I got an 1957 NSU Quickly i'm about to get stuck into. Its got awesome looking body work and when finished will be a classic paintjob but with white walls, moon discs, pinstriping and a custom copper tank ....I'll post some pics as it gets going.
As for the Honda Dreams..my neighbour has a couple as well as Benley's. In fact he has bikes ranging from a factory Raleigh with a McCulloch chainsaw motor right through to late model racing bikes. He is an old fella whos father was a Isle of Man title holder!

Anyone got a set that they could get the measurements and pattern of the flange? I'm looking at making some but just need to get that bit sorted.

I had one that was factory (i think) British Racing Green..looked kinda good but I repainted it a custom dark purple metallic.
If I was to do one now I think it would be matte green

After sanding and before paint wipe the whole car down with prepsol or similar. This removes any silicon that may be present, wether you know it or not!!....If you don't clean off any silicon it will make the paint look like shit!......also some lacquers don't need a clear, I have a Porsche orange on my car and they never used a clear with that.

I ran 175/50/13s on my golf and the gearing was completely up the shit, but a heap of fun...I could never find them new for a decent price and always popped into the local tyre shop who kept a few second hand ones for me whenever he could find them. So they are out there!!

I've done a few the same way as kiwixr3i and had no real problems...just be patient with it and choose a cord that won't cut through the edge of the rubber.
