Discuss......enlighten me on driveshaft reconmendations!
-
Well consistency seems to be the key on this project as progress is slow going
A few things have been crossed of the list and a few snags encountered
I ended up selling the ssr mesh wheels to help fund more vital components like clutch, ecu, fuel pump, bigger injectors, intercooler piping etc. And I wanted to go down a size to 14's and couldnt help myself and ended up buying some more wheels as well
Gearbox and clutch went in no worries apart from me leaving the crossmember at home so a temporary one was issued
I pulled the inside headlights out to fit intercooler piping and will make up some covers, at this stage its getting prepped for some track amateur drift action but I have smaller hideable intercooler for when I go legit.
One of the issues I encountered was/is the driveshaft. The yoke is different so I got correct yoke and the universals are pretty old and flogged so took it to get yoke swapped and new unis and was quoted $630 by ADL. Was more than I had at the time so Im sitting on that and hoping for recomendations from people in the know for a good crowd to deal with in auckland that might be a bit sharper on price.
So I still have a few vacuum and water lines to figure out, power steering lines, exhaust and wiring......oh and driveshaft

Sorry to tack onto the thread but good info! I'm looking for semis for my front wheels in 185 60 14 does anyone have any recommendations on where to source at a good price?
-
Sounds good although my painting expertise is with cars.
I'm not afraid of tackling some house painting though.
Maybe if you could pm me through some prices of ecu and wiring etc and we could go from there?
-
I'm looking at an ecu for my 1jzgte running stock twins and Fmic with 2jz 440 injectors. The megasquirt sounds like a more affordable option than a link.
Does anyone on here have contacts for selling and wiring them up on here?
I have some monies ready and willing to do reprays/painting for barter also
Cheers

Like Spencer said...there are much better ways to deal with rust.
Just do it properly once or it will keep showing it's super ugly mug

I can vouch for 2 tone being the best paint idea ever concieved and executed!
I love this car and want it....wanna swap for a gx51 cresta? haha

My brother in laws drift car will be going down to Christchurch for easter weekend in a container if your not in a hurry I can throw it in with that.. I'll be flying down on the Friday so can assist with a transfer from there?

I need more sledge hammering to run that low lol
-
Pretty much identical fitment to my 9's....I required a sledge hammer to make them fit...worth it though!

We have poverty spec 2006 2.0 it's good for what we need does a bit over 800k to the tank. Has enough guts for our needs.
Have owned for 50k and only routine servicing and a transmission flush in that time.
Good wagons I reckon
-
Fuck that's cool!
I was just in the hawkes bay and come across a 77 transit with a pop top and camper spec. It has a v4 and will be making an offer on it when it's running again.
We could cruise haha
-
I have heaps of polishing heads 180mm both course an fine if you need for the final cut an polish.
And I highly recommend the meguiars tech wax 2.0 to finish off.
I must admit was uncertain of the color when I saw just engine bay etc done but looks beautiful over the whole car. Job well done!
Can you include me on your will for this?

Fukin fukety fuck fuk. I've got a cranky 5-month old baby and a missus who's not coping, so that's me out dammit. Note to all fellow OS'ers. Don't have kids..... Was so excited to be able to bring the Celica too. Oh well next month, I suppose, if I'm not away on holiday, which, knowing my luck, I will be.
I know how you feel my young fulla is the same age. I love him to bits but my car sits dormant in the shed and attending a meet in it seems like it will have to go on my bucket list haha

I distributed an sold spies for a few years and a few of the shops would swapsy up thinners if they were caught short. I wouldn't us a GP...actually I'll check my stash tomorrow I might haave some you can take. ..if in auckland that is

This appeared to be the easy part as I realised I now have shitloads of stuff to sort out like-
-Find and fit a power steering pump and hook it up (motor didnt have one)
-Sort the oil return out as one of the outlets is all up the shit since I changed the sump, I have it off getting slightly modded as we speak so the hoses can be connected.
-Fit intercooler and radiator etc
-Sort out the fuel delivery ( have a walbro intank pump )
-Wiring....somewhere in the distance
heaps more that i'll discover along the way.
also was wondering what this braided line ran to from the top radiator hose? The other piece in the pic is the end of it...any ideas?

Norton do a .8 cutting disk that is quite awesome.. You might be able to set up a trade account with them
-
If you want to run 15x10 you will need to pump them out a bit
to do it properly look at how sheepers did his rear arches in his crown
