  1. Haven't done much to the garage recently but i have started working on my back yard. I've built a huge vege garden...it's about 8m long by about 1m wid and .6 deep...the backyard is a mess at the moment. Going have the lawn on two levels all flat.

  2. Got a cheap bench/shelving unit from Mitre10 yesterday. It's a lot bigger than i thought, or the garage is a lot smaller...not sure which but gets my tools off the ground. Will still go with a folding bench when i get the time to do it...the bench will do for now.

FYI The thing in the cage is not mine, it's the flatmates. Its a weird creature.

  3. Hey man, you could get some benches in there by making them fold down. If you put them on hinges attached to the first line of studs, of put in a new line below the midway row. Then when you want the benches up you just prop them with a bit of 4x2.

Thats a good idea, i'll look into that once o finish lining it etc.

  4. Purchased and moved into my first home about 8 weeks ago. The garage is a small poverty spec single Skyline type.

I got bored a couple of weeks ago and decided to throw up a couple of sheets of ply so i had a place to hang some of my tools and maybe a put a work bench etc.

Long storey short i enjoyed doing it so decided to put up some more the following pay day. Budget is minimal hence a couple of bits every fortnight, eventually the whole shed will be lined...well the walls anyway. I might have to re-do a couple of bits, the studs are not 600 apart so some sheets are to big or too small etc.

I don't really have a plan as such but i would like to some day run electricity to the shed, just some basic hot points and a couple of lights, all i have at the moment is a solar light i got off tardme which is only really good for helping me not trip on shit when i get home at night. I'm not glueing any of the ply down at this stage for that reason. I'm just running an exstension cord from the house for the power tools as well. Likewise if anyone knows a sparky that might be able to help me out with that on the Kapiti Coast area that would be a bonus.

Shit pics follow, sorry no decent before shots but yeah have a look anyway.

  5. Looksm like your light might need a Dynamo to run it also??

    But looking fucken cool man

I need to clean up mine all propper. Same colour etc

The light kit did come with one but seems little point attaching it without the wiring etc

  6. So purchased my self a Raleigh 20 for my birthday.

Wasn't going to do anything to it, and by OS standards i haven't really touched it at all but thought i'd start a thread anyway.

    When i got it :

    White walls added:

Cheap dynamo light from Ebay bolted on but not wired up because it never came with any wiring and i'm to useless and lazy to figure it out:

And that's it for now. Maybe next on the list is a Brooks saddle or similar style because the current one is a bit un-comfy, and maybe new rims and brake cable etc etc.

  7. Have been without a car for a few months now after selling my ute.

Got this to throw my bike into when i head out to Woodhill and to Rotorua and Tauranga etc. Will still use my bike for around town stuff can't be bothered with traffic on the motorway everyday.

No huge plans really, probably just some sounds if anything.

Runs well, a bit rough around the edges but not bad for what i paid. Has 6 months WOF and Rego so will be happy if it lasts that long.

  8. Have won these on Trademe.....Will see how they fit/look and suss out some new tyres and go from there. Got the set for $83 so if they dont fit or look like i imagine ill move them on its no big deal. If they do fit and look good enough i'll pollish them up and repaint them.

Was thinking of running 185/60/15 tires...any other better ideas/advice?

My brothers 89 l200 has given up the ghost so im claiming the 5 speed box and new cluthc etc from that in the next few weeks, now all i need to do is locate a decent enough 2 litre to drop in and maybe lower it (pending how these wheels look) and i should be set for a while.

  9. Might have picked up some ok looking 14s of tm, any suggestion on tyre size to go with?

Also have my eyes on some 16s in Rotorua but im not 100 convinced on them yet. Same again any suggestion on what tyre size i should go with?

I was thinking 185-195 somthing arather around there....

    wheels in question....

  10. Here is my bland unimpressive list of vehicles i've owned since late 2000

    1. 1986 Honda Civic

    2. 1989 Nissan Bluebird SSS

    3. 1982 Mazda Familia - thrashed it and sold for a profit

    4. 1981 Mitsubishi Lancer EX - sold to OS member before it was cool to own one for what would now be a bargain price, should have kept it.

    5. 1984 Mazda 323 hatch

    6. 1971 Honda CG110 motorbike - brilliant piece of machinery i should have never sold

    7. 1992 Ford Laser TX3 - Another car is should have held onto because the next one was a basket case

    8. 1994 Subaru Legacy GT wagon - should have never bought it. Spent 3 months on the driveway broken and two weeks on the road all up

    9. 1998 Mitsubishi Galant

    10. 1971 VW Beetle 1200a - 1 owner german import, rare as rocking horse shit for so many reasons. The guy i sold it to rooted it by adding tacky aftermarket parts to it and trying to pull it to bits to find rust and stuff that wasnt there. I regret selling this car the most

    11. 1998 Mitsubishi Legnum VR4

    12. 1989 Nissan Pathfinder - owned this in the states, got me all over the USA with no problems and no power steering not that you needed it

    13. 2008 Toyota Corolla - needed it for job after getting back from the USA. Sold it to mum.

14 and present 1982 Mitsubishi L200 - second owner, excellent condition considering age.

This list will no doubt get bigger, i worked out a while ago i average a new car every 9-6 months sometimes owner 2-3 at a time. Should really save for a house deposit but nah....

  11. I purchased a 82 Mazda Familia sedan of some family friend for $800 around 2001, it was in mint condition as they had brought it from new and used it as a family car then a 2nd car for there daughters to learn to drive in. It was bog standard 4 speed manual 1.5 litre.

I thrashed around in it with my mates heading out to some hot pools in Napier that are way out in the boonies along a gravel road just about every day, and thrashed the shit out of it down the river near my place in Taradale. Was down at the river one afternoon after school driving far to fast, hit a massive dip in the road at about 80k got the shits and hit the accelerator instead of the brake got some air came up and out of the dip straight in another still with my foot to the floor came out of the second one with even more air, all i could see when coming back down was the gravel of the road. Landed on what was probaly about a 45 degree angle, bent the fuck out of the front and busted the drivers side shocl and both shocks in the rear from landing so hard and spining out.

Got home made up a for sale sign with a $1300 price tag, mum drove it to work the next day, some dude rang me on my cell came over that night and handed me the cash.

All up i owned it for a little over 2 weeks and completely rooted it and sold it for a profit to some guy who was trying to keep his homesick mrs in the country. It drove like shit and made all sorts of strange noises after the river incident.
