  1. Well, on the way home after selling at the supermarket, the car suddenly went back to normal. Steady idle, no missing, no surging.

So now I know. If a problem is too hard, just don't do anything and it will fix itself.

Will see if it continues to be good tomorrow...

  2. Hi there, if its an idle/cruise fault then i'd be looking at the idle circut in the carburettor. ( Cruise also feeds off the idle circut ) .

Remove the idle mixture screw and blow compressesd air into the hole. Refit the screw. Wind it all the way in then unwind it about 2 full turns. This should give you a rough mixture setting to start it. With the car idling ( hopefully) slowly screw the mixture screw in till it starts running rough then wind the screw out half a turn. Mixture set now and hopefully idling nicely.

    Good luck

Cheers. Good info, will try that tomorrow.

  3. Having some issues with the Suzuki (3 cyl 800cc 4 stroke). Recently started idling very rough and will often die at lights etc. Also when cruising at low speed at 10% throttle it also constantly misfires.

Tested the ignition leads, one of then had very high resistance so I replaced all three, but no change. Swapped coil as well but no joy.

Thought it might be vacuum leak - sprayed some engine start around the intake and I felt like it raised the rpm, so thought I had solved it. (Was hard to tell as the idle was so irregular). Pulled the intake off (cunt of a job), slapped a new gasket on... No change.

Points look OK and I also replaced the sparkplugs as the old ones looked pretty worn.

So I'm leaning towards clogged main jet in the carb? Only idle and cruise is affected. Wot is fine, doesn't miss and has full power.

    Haven't checked compression yet.

    Any ideas appreciated.

  4. Want to get one of my 12" mag wheels repaired. It must have had a bit of a curb hit or something cause it takes a lot of weights to balance it. Does anyone have any recommendations? Was going to try advanced wheel repairs in porirua.

Also, after that's done, I need someone to blast and clear coat them. Preferably a one stop shop. Come at me with suggestions.

  5. What a blardy great weekend!  Thanks to all who were involved in organising - Seedy for being our chauffer and doggy sam for being a great host for dirt nats.

Those of you who know me know that I love 1: Falling off bikes 2: being the center of attention while falling off bikes.  So obviously I had a great time on Saturday.

Special thanks to Ned and Keltik for being my ambulance drivers / miders / holding back my hair when I spewed etc.
