  1. And to Mr. Low'n'slow, nice flare job. I was wondering about bogging fibreglass flares onto the body, filling up all the bolt holes etc, much like what your've done. Have you sprayed your esky yet?

hasnt been sprayed yet ... will be summer job for when uni finnishes :D...if you do use fiberglass flares some other fellas on here recomended using sikaflex (that black shit in my pics) and rivets to fix em on, seemed to do the trick fairly well made em rigid...will be a tad difficult on your 4 door possably but doable.

  2. The flaring tools that bolts onto the hub and rotates only roles the edge in which is ok if your wheels are just rubbing on that folded edge (hammer and dolly / baseball bat does just as good a job if your not worried about paint IMO), i then tried crank N the lipping tool tight against the body and taping it with a hammer to use it kind of like a dolly which worked ok but would have still required slits to be cut in the guard and triangle bits welded in to bring the guard out a decent amount and yeah got sick of fuckn around with them so just used fiberglass flares of TM which cost $100 (the fella still sells them on TM) and yeah i think they turned out ok but steel would be better.

  3. Yeah deffinatly not so fun but want to get as much as i can done before im back at uni in a weeks time. P.s Cheers for the beers the other nite when gaz bizzo and i came around, oh yeah that reminds me i have those mk2 disks in my workshop that belong to Gazza which you were after, can drop em of to ya sometime if you want?

  4. Nicked Gaz's mk2 struts and stearing rack in order to fit the 2.8i capri vented disks

  5. Sounds like gaz blocks and my springs didnt make it very far north  mean ... how did she handle? didn't feel like there was much / any travel in the shock at all when we put em in haha.

yea due to my reyums lol. all g though. will get them tyres off and clean and paint the innards and prob rock inner tubes. when you want your springs back yo? prob pull thems out this w/e and get mine to suit etc.

actually didnt handle too bad, i didnt think it was that bumpy. ride back was good, seemed to fix mad steering shudder and the pull to left. hopefully get this job sorted to i can pour some money into that area.

    fuck. longest post out.

Na all good man not in any rush to get springs back eh...haha one of your springs is in my shed at the moment and one in gaz's, because i nicked his spring copressor and didnt get around to taking them of the nite before...will drop it of next time i go around to gazza's. So did you get a flat tyre? Bugger.

  6. Na not the spacers in the centre of the calipers ... it needs spacers to centre them over the disks were it is fixed to the strut, as there are thicker than the originals disks giving them a slightly different offset from the original thiner disks, just needs something to space it out towards the strut...otherwise the caliper is toaching the disks.

Also AP with 2.8 capri disks do fit unders 13" rims.

  7. they bolt straight on, however you will need 2.8iS capri discs if you want vented. also, AP and volvo calipers require a spacer plate to be installed to widen them to fit.

also unsure if they fit 13" rims if thats your handle

Hey, Have just bolted 2.8 vented disks and AP calipers onto mk2 escort strutes...and noticed the calipers are slightly of centre what are the sparers plates you mentioned RT? were do you get them and what do they look like? i was thinking of just using washers?

  8. guards fixed on now so here are some pics.

Marking out and cutting of the front guard alowing room for the edge to be roled out.

    picture014mk2.jpg

marking and cutting of the rear guard which wasnt as simple as the front as it had double skins.

    picture039od0.jpg

    What bog?

    picture016sf1.jpg

The double skins on the rear guard were both folded outwards

    picture043kh2.jpg

then welded back together with the slits also later welded and tack welds also along the edge.

    picture046rr2.jpg

The front guard was also folded out at 90 degrees proior to doig this the panel was flimzy as hell but once this was done it was quite rigid.
