The race is worth watching! Another cracker - been a great season so far!
Re Hamilton - 5 pit stops and a new nose cone after a first corner collision (he started last due to a MGU-H failure in quali).
Great drives from Ricciardo and Vettel to come back after a tire failure and nose change respectively. Vettel and Raikonnen had nose changes after colliding with each other in the first corner.

There was some talk of the new exhaust arrangements being used to aero dynamic effect
E.G using waste gates to open fluid switchs for DRS and such
Already banned!
Sneaky engineers...

Well well well. Tomorrow it all begins anew!
I must admit, the new ultra-strict radio restrictions have gotten me very excited. No more team strategy calls mid-race, no more telling the drivers they can't do something or to back off or to let their team mate pass....
Bring it on!

After watching an interview with him, he seems like a much nicer guy than Pascal. Not that being nice means much in F1!

Just found out I'm gonna be doing a work thing at the sochi round of F1 this year, I'd better get into F1, I hear the rounds are a pretty big spectical!
What industry do you work in?

(that's what she said)

Bit thicker at the front than in the concepts...

2016! Who is pumped?
McLaren - please!!!!!
-
Yeah - who knows really. Redbull could have sweetened the deal with all sorts. Eccelstone could have even used the FOM historic money for Renault as a bargaining chip.
The fact that it's all dragged out so long does make me think a lot of haggling was involved.
-
More people are starting to pick up the story. It really seems like the only option they have - become a engine manufacturer, but base your engines off another.
I think everybody agrees that their engine is going to be at least partly a Renault engine next year...

Not looking likely with his 10 place grid penalty
Hoping the rain makes it interesting. Even another rained out FP1/2/3 and awesome dry race ala Russia.
Maybe it will convince them to rejig the current weekend schedule

Lesson is, don't wait and see what Merc does. If you do then they drive the strategy and you will get passed. If you don't wait and see, worst thing is you get passed...
When Raikonnen came out on Hards and started doing fastest laps that shuold have been a sign that Williams needed to come in before Merc, not after. Hamilton was close enough to Bottas that he was hurting his tired, not saving them. He wasn't suddenly going to do a crazy fast lap when Williams came in, and he still had Bottas to contend with...
Either way, they got plenty of points (which is what they really need).

Not summer break - Hungary in a fortnight, then summer break
Williams got some excellent points, better strategy calls with come with time.
Another strong showing from Hulk since Le Mans.
Honda running old engines until upgrades in Hungary/Spa (depending on rule change around 5th engine), so expected to be slow.

Side pods look awful, need to go down right to the floor IMHO

Always pumped!
I'm hoping Ferrari can pressure Merc into another mistake
Interesting to see what happens after Honda 'turns it up' this weekend.
Also like you said, 3am race hurts.

Love that Red Bull colour scheme
More questions I can't wait to be answered:
Will McLaren finish the race - even if not showing any gains in performance?
Will Pirelli bring tires that make for an exciting 2-3 stopper? Or fuck it up and make it a bore of a 1 stopper?
-
Formula 1 is easy to stream now-a-days. Plenty of good pirate sources!
I agree with TD, there should be some good pressure to have some legal streaming sources up soon.
Anyone tried the new Sky fanpass thing? Does it have pre-race / FP / Qual? Which commentators do Sky use?
-
Yeah that race was unexpected in many ways - even without rain!
Bring on an interesting season! Imagine what Kimi could have done from the front of the grid with his race pace and tire-usage!!!
-
Hell yeah!
Hopefully the forecast is still for rain, will make for an epic battle up the front. Even if it isn't, looks like Ferrari are closing the gap!
-
, so Honda have a massive development disadvantage. They have aimed high and missed the target, but obviously have the potential to be at the front. It will be interesting to see how the improve during the season, and in fact if they improve during the season.
I think what Honda have done is brilliant.
Sure, they had an awful pre-season but you have to remember the way the engine development rules work - the tokens are only for engine upgrades, whereas safety/reliability/cost-saving changes are free to make throughout the year. So why the hell would you not homologate a beast of an engine and then work on the reliability? As long as they don't blow too many up at the start of a race they should progress quickly this year I recon.

Renault has been saying they are considering buying a team and creating a new factory team. They get bad press via Red Bull when they do badly, and when they do well people only think of Red Bull, not Renault.
Then on Sunday: http://www.grandprix247.com/2015/03/15/marko-confirms-renault-in-toro-rosso-takeover-talks/
Looking forward to this season! I'll just do what I did last year, and pretend the Merc's don't exist. OMG Nasr on the podium for the first race! Unbelievable

Yeah, McLaren really screwed up their pre-season - seem to be in damage-control Apparently they are super concerned about Malaysia because the heat is causing them a lot of issues...
