  1. You gotta cut the old locking rings off with a grinder or a gas torch. Sometimes the bearing will need warming to go over the axles too. Not hot, just warming. To press the new rings on, take out your wheel studs, place the axle on the ground, and slide a peice of pipe over the axle. (obviously it has to have a smaller hole than the OD of the ring) Then bash the pipe down with a fucking big hammer. I usually use a heat gun or a gas plant to heat the rings. And Ideally a bearing heater to get the bearings on.

Just don't forget the backing plates before you put the bearings on. I haven't done thing, but plenty of people have

Yup, that was exactly the way it was done on my car... still wouldnt go on tho..:lol:

  2. Yeah 4G63 will be choice but I cant count how many times thats been done before lol.

Dont know if I'll go ahead with modding this car cause I love the fuel economy. Very interesting to see what options there are as Ive never really looked into it before..

That Mitsi V8 would be unique but dosnt look worth doing from what you guys have said.. Interesting they created one tho.

When I got some decent money I might get another EX and do a conversion or might just try and find a mint GSR.

What ya reckon about one of these in an EX? Sounds CHOICE!

  3. Oh yup.. just stumbled across the 8A8 on Wikipedia

The Mitsubishi 8A8 engine is a range of V8 powerplants produced by Mitsubishi Motors since 1999. The only variant to date is the 8A80, a 4.5 L with double overhead camshafts and gasoline direct injection (GDI) technology. Financial pressures forced the company to discontinue sales of the Proudia and Dignity, the only vehicles in its range to which it was fitted, after only fifteen months.[1]

However, the two vehicles were developed in partnership with the Hyundai Motor Company of South Korea, with whom Mitsubishi has had a longstanding relationship.[2] While Mitsubishi makes the cylinder heads and other GDI-related equipment, Hyundai casts the aluminium block, and other major internal components.[3] Hyundai's version of the Proudia/Dignity, the Equus, proved more successful, and this has been the sole application of the powerplant since 2001. Hyundai will replace the engine with its newly developed Tau V8 in 2008 when the second generation rear wheel drive Equus replaces the current model.[4]

    [edit] 8A80 (1999–2008)

    Displacement — 4498 cc

    Bore — 85 mm

    Stroke — 96.8 mm

    Compression ratio — 10.7:1

    Power — 206 kW (280 PS) at 5000 rpm

    Torque — 412 N·m (304 ft·lbf) at 4000 rpm

Seems like a hell of a lot of effort for not so much lol. Was worth a look into.. didnt realise there was a V8 at all

  4. Just found this post on http://www.lancerregister.com of this guy asking about different axels ect on his EX and this guy with the name "TurboZ" posted details of his EX race car currently with 600HP and climbing with "It`s the original 80`s block with Vr4 head & a GT35R.

Gearbox is a RalliArt box, only 3 in the Uk I know off, Dog leg 1st, 1 to 4 are straight cut (love the touring car whine) its shorter than the standard lancer box, 5th Gear is actually 4th on a Starion, 4th 1.1, I have a Spare`s box with different ratio`s, Shafts etc, but have never changed them always felt right on track, if it was short sprints then you could make them even shorter! 1st is also longer than a Starion, which is longer than a Lancer one!! Been good with 500hp Dont know how long it will last with 600+hp especially 700hp"

Ive only read this one thread but thers quite a few pics and probably alot more threads by him... Just thought this car was something different and cool.

Heres a youtube link of it at 500HP on Cadwell Park:

And one of his threads I was reading:

Will be good if we can sort out exactly whats happening since its so close now..

Edit: Just read other convoy post. I wonder if the auckland guys can meet up with the hamilton guys and go as one big group?

  6. My mate was sitting in my car once and caught someone scoping it out about to steal it. I was inside for just a second came out, she told me and I chased him but the bugger ran and hid somewhere...

If I ever caught someone trying to steal anything of mine I would NOT hesitate to do to them what I feel is a good punishment.

And I'm sick of all these assaults going on.. My friend has been assaulted 3 times I think this year (2 by the same person). Makes me so ANGRY!

  7. I had to take one of the cards off the back doors and I managed to just unclip it easily with my fingers this time.. once you know exactly where the clip is its easy, prob is you cant see it.

I just happened to walk past a wreckers and they had an EX there with pretty good door cards and I asked if I could take one and they said yes :) just happened to be almost same colour as mine :)

I'm having a bit of trouble taking one of the doorcards off though, the clips that clip onto the steel at the top are VERY tough to take off, they wont even budge and I cant force them because the clips are just fastened to cardboard so pull too hard = rip door card to pieces. Any one have any successful ways of doing this? need to get it done cuz my back window winder thing inside the door has fallen to bits
