  4. Yeah, when my bro went to supercheap to get the carb kit they didnt have Lancer EX on their computer but all the Lancers with 4G32's had the same carb so I guess its the right one.. Just wish I could find some info on it..
  5. Got the carb pulled apart... its full of shit.. no wonder the car dont go! It says "AISAN" on the side and also "iso" and it had a tag under one of the bolts which reads: "C28LD". Does anyone have any info on these at all?

  9. My uncle has got my lancer fixed for me but it still needs the clutch and carb done. He was talking about I needed to know the 'settings' for it so he can fix it.. he used to know them but forgot. I think he's gonna rebuild it or something I'm not sure, I didnt even know they had settings So what I need to know is what carb do I have? I have a 1980 Lancer EX GSL with a 4G32 belt driven engine so does anyone know what carb is on these and the settings I need? At least if I know what carb I have I can let him know and go from there.. Any help will be appreciated!

Hey just got head reconditioned and new waterpump and radiator fixed and in the process I think the distrubitor or something got moved and the marks that were put on it dissapeared or something. I think its getting the timing done on wed.. anyone know what the correct timing settings are for my 4G32 in me EX? Talked to Caboonatlarge and he said he thinks it would be about 5 degrees? I dont know anything about ignition timing so any help will be appreciated

  17. Thanks for all your input guys.. I live in Te Awamutu (near Hamilton) in Nrth Island so its a bit hard for ya to show me My uncle has decided he's only gonna pull the head off and fix the valves then replace the gasket so I'll let u guys know what happens.. He said it will be done in the next few weeks.. thats what he said 6+ months ago haha
  18. sweet! Thanks for your input.. I'll have a talk to my uncle and see what he says..
  19. Yup, my uncle is doing it.. he's an awesome mechanic.. his original idea was to rebuild it but he said he was talking to the guy from mitsubishi and blah blah and then decided againsed it.. he said he'll have a look at the bearings or something and he said might not have to rebuild it.. If I can I want to try to convince him to rebuild it cuz I assume it will be alot better when rebuilt? I dont know jack about working on cars so I'm looking forward to fixing the engine so I can learn all about it.. ^^ So if its not to spec then thats when I'd have to get it bored out or something? my uncle said he was gonna hone it originally but I guess he changed his mind.. So really.. what I wanted to know was if he dosnt end up rebuilding it will it still b ejust as good as if we do rebuild it? any advantage to rebuilding? Thanks for all your info guys!
  20. ok.. so sounds like that guy from Mitsubishi was all shit? I guess it dosnt matter.. as long as it runs nice afterwards I'll be happy
  21. Your ideas are all good guys but my uncles attitude is like "I'm right, you're wrong and we're doing it my way".. I suggested to him we put a 4g63 in but he wont let me.. So I have to stick with the engine its got.. so u think it would screw up if we rebuild it? but I dont think thats happening anymore and will it still run as nice without rebuild u think?
  22. Hey guys... My Lancer EX has been sitting in the grass for about 6+ months waiting for an engine rebuild.. it has a 4G32B engine in it and I was gonna be helping my uncle do the rebuild and fix the engine in the car as he's a awesome mechanic. The car has a head gasket thats probably non existant now lol, something with the valves is fukt, he also thinks there might be blocked jets or something and blah blah.. Anyway.. aparantly he was talking to a guy from Mitsubishi and the guy said that when u rebuild these engines they make alot of smoke and burn alot of oil so he said he's not gonna rebuild the engine anymore.. Was gonna grind the valves and do some head work and stuff he said.. dont remember what else he said he was gonna do.. I remember saying ages ago about piston rings and blah blah.. Was wondering if any of u guys know anyone who has rebuilt these or have rebuilt any yourself and whats the story with what this mitsubishi guy said? I was kinda hoping for a rebuilt engine as it would be like new but I'm happy with whatever we do to it as long as it runs very smooth and nice and has good power I guess... Any help or info will be appreciated
  23. Heres my Lancer EX that my bro and I share.. Its pretty much exactly how it came out of the factory at the moment except I've put a Pioneer stereo and some 5-1/4" Kenwood speakers in the front doors which I have only just done a couple of days ago and we also have the same kind of speakers in the rear parcel tray which I put in quite a while ago along with the stereo. Dont have many pics right now so I'll post some of what I have and will get more up after the engine rebuild its been sitting, waiting 6+ months for Heres a pic of when I first got it: The stereo: Rear speakers: Heres a pic of the front door speakers which I have just done.. took me most of the day and had to do some grinding and door was falling apart and all sorts of things but I got them in eventually..
