Hey guys
I need a favour from an osgc who resides in Hamilton. I sold a dog crate to a lady in Hamilton and shipped it up from my place in Welly... she is unhappy with it and wants a refund... blah blah blah... disputes tribunal... blah blah blah... apparently I misled her on a few spots of rust... and I am too busy and have enough going on to deal with that shit so will refund her. I can't get up to the tron so was wondering if someone can pop round, pick it up, and pay her the money I will transfer to your account prior to going. I don't want to refund her online before I have the crate back.
So, if someone has the time and need for a dog crate, or knows someone who needs one, let me know. I don't want it back. Not worth the cost of transport to me as I bought it brand new so paying more money to have it back in my possession seems pointless. Its an extra large one so anyone who has the need to lock up a medium to large dog, rabbits, or disobedient small children, will find it useful.
Hollah at me

I recently got a 2010 ranger 2wd 3 litre turbo diesel. Bloody good truck. Paid 15k on top of my 07 outlander in a swap so values it about 25k. Has only done 94km and for the same money for a smaller truck a hilux would have been 2007/08 with easily over 150km.
I was going to spend about what your budgeting, in my case my outlander plus 5k , but spending 15k on top of the swap I don't regret getting a slightly more expensive truck. Obviously I don't know your personal situation but my justification was if I get a lower km'd more modern truck to last me 7-10 years that's gona double as a work truck and family wagon is better than spending 10k less and having to upgrade again in 3-4 years as the truck gets older/need more work done etc as kms hit 250 plus
After all of the above, I recommend ranger
My 2 cents

Love it mate especially the numerous brown tones. Adds to the awesomeness imo

Can vouch for graham he has shortened my shock inserts and did a good job. Cost 130 so is reasonably priced. A mate uses him for work on his drag car all the time hence I got recommended

Primo man, good work! I look fwd to seeing updates

did you cut the bumpstops, add smaller ones, or remove them? the suspension needs to bottom out on the bumpstop and not the shock. if it bottoms out on the shock it will fuck out most shocks real quick.
the shock needs to be short enough to make the spring captive and have enough compression travel remaining that you hit the bumpstops before bottoming out the shock or the aforementioned rooting will happen.
cutting of springs is technically not legal for the road, so if you do that and the wof guy notices or your go for a cert it wont fly.
Putting that aside (say we were talking about a track car) it depends on the spring seat design whether is an issue or not, some cars have spring ends finished natural which is the same as cut, some have the ends bent flat, some have the ends ground flat. basically is the end is natural it will be the same as cut and no issue, but if its flattened or ground then its not going to sit right and will likely cause you problems. no idea about what the setup in an escort is.
Had a look and we couldn't see any bumpstops at the front. Spoke to a mate who has owned a few mk2s in the past and he doesn't think there are meant to be any in the front... anyone else able to confirm this?

Thought this might be the best place to bring this topic back up...
I put 2 inch drop springs in front of my escort panelvan with new monroe inserts and after 100 kms they fuct out... I assume because they weren't shortened. Monroe are replacing them so all good...
Having read this and seen the drop the springs give I would like a bit more so am thinking of cutting a coil off and getting the shocks shortened 2.5 or 3 inches instead of just 2 inches.
Any suggestions if this would be the way to go? I will be flaring the guards also.
Cheers

Did a search but couldn't see anything related...
If I get a second hand seat belt for my escort but not the matching stalk, will it fit into my current stalk? In other words, are the stalks universal for say mk2 escorts?
-
Looking good man! where did you get a boss kit for the wildcat? I've got one I wana fit to my mk2

Should look good once the panel work is complete!
I see you picked up some new seats. .. and noticed from pic at panel shop you have the lower back escort seats in it... if u wana sell em id be keen
-
tidy job on the first side! gonna look badass with flares wheels slam and panelled sides.
-
Looking like the way to go removing side windows looks better already. I needa start a project page on my mk2 panelvan... nowhere near as skilled as you but would love to remove my side windows too... keeping a keen eye on your project. Will end up just being jealous tho lol

awesome cheers for all the advice, am going to get stuck into it this weekend and will report back how I get on - although may not have new parts by then...
and I have heard before that getting rid of EST is a good idea so may well go down that route

Sorry forgot to add on cap when I said dizzy...
Maybe replace distributor shaft as well ya reckon?
I have plugged up some small hoses that were coming off carb going nowhere but could still be one somewhere. And in regards to carb tune, you're probably right. Anyone know who I could get to look at the carb?

yeah this one does

Hey guys so I have an 86vk commy with blacktop 202.
Bit of history on car - Has been sitting for better part of 2 years with maybe 200kms max done in that time. Car has done 167000kms only a 3 owner born and bred in upper hutt all it's life.
Mate owned it previous to me (he knows next to nothing about engines - I'm not a hell of a lot better tbh). He said it started to run ruff in 2012 so took it for a service - oil filter sparkies leads. Ran better for a while then got worse so parked it up.
I purchased it 18 months later and re placed sparkies fuel filter and oil change. It struggles to hold idle and coughs and sputters. When it gets warm - can take 10 re starts and 20 mins - it drives ok. Sounds like it runs on a cylinder or two short with a possible exhaust manifold leak. I replaced the inlet/exhaust gasket and still does the same. Have got it from running on 3 to 5 cylinders with the front one having little or no spark.
I am at a loss to know what to do next. Maybe the carb need rebuilding or tweaking? Oh and has relatively new dizzy.
I want to get it running and reliable so I can drive it each week. If anyone has any ideas or is local to upper hutt and knows what they are doing and can maybe identify the problem there will be beers/cash money/services offered (nothing of a sexual nature - I have my own property maintenance business)
Any help or ideas appreciated!

Having owned two, the first being auto and the current one being a 5 speed man, '89 mitsi v3000. these things go for around the $1000 mark with 200+ on the clock, admittedly most have had the tits thrashed off them and not looked after.
mine has 155 on the clock with me being 3rd owner. very good condition and well looked after. next to no rust (only surface on one door) one of a few I would imagine. i wouldnt sell for less than $2500 but no one would ever pay that as too many shit ones around to de value it. great cars. great power with the v6. gets looks everywhere i drive it

thanks mate! have sent a pm

I would love to get the info from my grandfather, but he died in 2002.
I have also asked every family member I can think of for info on the car, rego, photos etc, but no one has anything.
About 12-18 months ago I was stuck at lights at tirohanga in hutt valley and saw a factory hot pink torana drive north on SH2. I wanted to follow but was stuck at lights and lost it. not sure if it was it but same shape, colour and 4 door... perhaps someone has also seen this in the area?
