Lol, it happily cruises at over 100... but the doors do flap a bit

I will put up some pics in the right place over the weekend...

The time has come to get rid of the Escargot... but am unsure what it's worth. It's a 1990, 160k km, but with a 1500 sentra engine in ( I've been told - I don't speak datsun ). Just had WOF, needed new front pads.
BubbleGoose resprayed it in metallic green acouple of years ago, and it still looks great. Seats recovered in green, and green seatbelts fitted too.
Located Christchurch.
Any ideas?
Cheers, Steve

I used to put in a high detergent diesel oil for a hundred miles or so, then replace with the usual... but that was in the days or 20-50 mineral oil.

Speaking of Sillyspeed, isn't that what Fiat Stilo Abarths have?
sadly yes it's not a manual. you get extra flappy paddles on the stilo though.
-
Alfa was actually quite a nice car.but like all women she threw the list away and got a Fiat Stilo Arbarth instead. quite a sleeper...

that was on the list, but only until I realised that it wasn't manual...

lol my inty did that through the sunroof... and as for the TVR, well just drive over 120 and leave the roof off.
BTW Punto arbath now in the mix. Won't be as good as her old Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo...
-
selespeed alfa tho. Will certainly look at the saab... 200k is just run in with them.
-
lol she's a thirsty beast Dan. Looking through trademe... contenders Alfa 146, mundaneo, focus, softtop saab...she want's something inconspicuous that gets over the hill fairly easily. nearly right then.
I'd've gone for the focus, but it's 200+km.

Just get the MX-5 or the MR-2. Cripes, MG.. Why would anyone....
cost mainly... and we're ex poms anyway. And I was brought up in Abingdon ( not that that's got anything to do with the mgf mind! )

Does anyone have an opinion on this? SWMBO is considering now she's rejoined the ranks of the employed. Things like cambelt, head gasket look pretty simple / k series stuff not too pricey??
-
I love the Espada, but I am a pretty sick individual. I considered (for about 30 seconds) buying a Ferrari 400 too. I think there's something wrong with me.
Nothing wrong at all... v12 goodness. What the XJS should have looked like.

OK, the spanner size is 3/8", so you'd use 3/16ths pipe??
-
I know a couple of people posted up links to bulk brake pipe suppliers, and I can't find them now. Could anyone please help this idiot out?

I've read that XF pistons hold a bit too much heat to build a good reliable turbo.

if you come across a laminated Mk.1 Escort screen, let me know...

That ex Fahey Escort FVA was just awesome...

you could go the oldschool lumenition way, or convert a japanese one... http://homepages.mcs.vuw.ac.nz/~kris/escort/ignition.shtml, or go the whole hog and fit a megejolt.

Had a pair of Group 1 44IDFs on one of my old RS2000's. Made a huge difference, but were out of balance by the end of the road.

Lack of pressure is a big worry. Maybe try running without a thermostat - no problem at this time of year - and the heater on (!) and see whether the system pressurises / level drops.
Maybe there's an airlock in there somewhere?
-
be a lot safer to run it off a shunt than put everything through it...
-
Standard fuel pump will run 40's no bother.
Request: any sillyspeed users in chch???

SWMBO is not getting on that well with the selespeed on her new Stilo. Is there anyone around who's familiar with this who'd take her out for a quick lesson???
Cheers,
Steve
