Have someone interested in my JH but we need transport from Chch to Hams. Aparrently the usual suspects don't want to move pre 1990 cars due to things like oil leaks ( who'd'athought! ).

Any suggestions / anyone going north with an empty trainer?

Ah FFS! I bought it from Oz off ebay, but have just seen on the ad that you are absolutely correct. Given the advice above I'll consogn this as a $150 mistake and get the correct one.

I know, but your knowledge is so awesome. I'm trying to rebuild the heater in the bosses 04 TT coupe, and It's already been an epic for so long.

Heater core is ally rad with a plastic top, and 2 pipes coming off the top at an angle. Replacement I got had shorter pipes, and at a different angle. Have now spent weeks swearing at it trying to get the pipes to fit. One does, one doesn't - because the pipes are in the wrong place.

Is it possible to get these things re-cored? Photo is of the buggered one.

These are the 2 vent covers. they had a post at the curved end that snapped off on removal. AFAICT one of the numbers is WKK FCFBT GK20 BNO 819 635 DE

Its the two long louvres on the top of the dash, and yes a mk 1 TT. Shall search for the part number later

So, the Haynes manual said to remove the long heater vents on the TT before removing the dash, and by the way you'll almost certainly break them. As usual, they were exactly right.

What they didn't say was that they cost over $150 each to replace! So, I'm hoping someone out there knows of a cheaper place to get them from than ebay...

I've found that the centre console has been removed at some time in the past by a gorilla and it's a bit shagged. Things like tabs where you screw them down have been smashed off and are long gone.

What's the best way to rebuild them?

Any recommendations for a degas? I've got to take the heater box out of an Audi TT, which apparently entails removal of the drivers seat, steering column, dash... you get the idea. I know I've got to replace the heater matrix and probably repair the box itself, so removal seems to be the most sensible option, hence attacking the aircon.

I also have absolutely no idea how much it would cost...

Has changed now. No flashing on indicators whether engine running or not - they just stay on solid. Hazards are fine. All indicators are lighting up in both cases.

I did get a couple of flashes on indicators after checking hazards, then they stopped again for good.

A bit of googling and it turns out to be a common problem - the relays are in the hazard unit, and they get gummed up. Unfortunately, the mountings for the hazards broke a couple of years ago, and it's held in with a bit of bent wire. A damn good shake and waggling of the connector block and all seem to be working. At least I know what to hit if it happens again. 

Most glad not to be learning cambus at my age... (:

The bosses 04 TT has started playing up ( well, tbh it's falling to bits really but that's another story ).

The indicators work fine if the engine is off, but won't flash when they are. Has anyone seen this problem before I start looking for bad earths all over the car??

as nzed said. there are loads of slightly different ford thermostats which all fit. they need matching to the gauge.

Even though CUL8R wasn't there when Jules turned up this morning, just wanted to mention that the crew looked after her brilliantly. We're not in the real target demographic - probably 2 generations older! - but she came back singing their praises.
