  1. Geez that's pretty extreme. I did ring around to get some Toyo's and Mag n Turbo had access to four only and that was about 4 months ago. Wonder if Kumho will up their price accordingly...

  2. Yeah it's got 215's on at the mo but I'm trying to find 175/50 or failing that maybe 185/60. I'm not fixed on the size so if I can't findwhat I'm looking for I'll look at different sizes. Just liked the look of the 175 on these.

  3. Shit it's a hassle calling around for tyres.

Everyone wants to know what car it's being fitted to "blah blah blah you can't do that,we don't have that size".

What would typically be fitted to 13x7 wheels?

Cunt cut me off at a roundabout. Will never drive without insurance again....

Think I've posted this on here before but came round a sweeping bend doing 80-90 and slipped (had just been pissing down[drive to the conditions, safer communities together]). Clipped the gutter and did a 180 to the other side of the road where the right rear wheel ejected down the hill and the car flipped over and slid about 50 metres down the road. First on site was a truckie who saw my wheel hurtling towards him down the road. Think he needed to change his pants after that. Thankfully I cocooned myself in somehow (the roof on drivers side was touching the dash and top of my seat) and girlfriend in back was sleeping with a wad a blankets around her.

Never got to see it after but my brother took this pic at wreckers.

  5. It started out as a 'low profile' option when low profile wasn't around. The main benefit is that it stiffens up the side wall something chronic which can be good for handles. Plus it can look the business. Got new rims + tyres the other day... photo.jpg

Put up pic when you fit them. What width are your rims? Are they 155/50/13 fitted to them?

  6. Because it looks good.

One thing I've wondered is if you have rims that stick out from your guards but tyres that fit under your guards is that legal or does it count as the wheel being too wide?

  7. Anyone ever used the HiFly HF201 tyres you can buy off trademe? They're insanely cheap ($137 for two) so could be a good option if they're any good.

  8. 2L's I've owned were L300 83' with same year Sigma 2L and Mk5 Cortina. Both got between 13-17km/l depending on driving conditions etc. By far the most economical car I've owned was my Minor which could do about 300km on 15 litres or so on the open road. Top speed about 50mph though. I did get it up to 80mph with a tail wind on the Central Hawkes Bay roads with some serious speed wobbles.

I don't thrash my Corolla at all, always drive pretty steady. Only time I don't would be if some fucker doesn't go fast enough when I'm giving way and have to make a quick dive in front of them...

To answer Q's. It's manual choke and it only needs choke for first min or two. Thermostat was just replaced a couple of months ago (and when I say replaced I mean I put one in where the previous owner had left one out.)

The tank on my KE70 is about 35 litres so I would say they'd all be about that? Maybe 40.

I think I would start biking if it was doing 7km/l.

Looking at sites that give mpg I don't think it's so bad now. Bugger these fuel prices. 2.27 for 98? Fuuuuuck that.

  9. Will try that. Air cleaner is clean and pretty new, timing was just done a month or two ago when a new dizzy was fitted. It's a bit suspect cause it was doing the same km/l when the car was fully loaded with stuff and had bikes and shit tied to the roof. It currently just has Me driving around.....

  10. So my little 4k is costing an absolute fortune to drive. I'm lucky if I get 10km/litre.

Now I've had 2L cars that get me 15km/litre so there must be something wrong here... It idles a bit off and stutters sometimes. A guy at a garage I stopped in to check said it may be a vacuum leak/ butterfly vacuum something something. Would this be the main issue and hopefully give me a few extra km/l? What does a 4k usually give per litre bearing in mind it is all standard.

    Any advice appreciated.

  11. I was just wondering if you'd need to run tubes if you go for mad stretch. Keen to see what yours look like.

What brands do you fullaz go for? I'm pretty keen on the tread pattern of the proxes but haven't looked in to others.

At this stage I'm thinking the 175/50 but may change my mind..

  12. And that the minimum "legal" size for a 13x7 is meant to be 205/60 :?:pukeright:

    175/60 FTW!

Pretty keen to see what they'd be like with said tyres... Do Tony's etc ever refuse to fit a tyre that's clearly the wrong(right) size for the rim?

  13. Sweet cheers. And yeah, always do the "Hey Tony, I found these guys sell this for $xxx". They usually reply with "Wow that's cheap, are you sure that's fitted and balanced." But they gotta do it. :D

  14. So I need to replace two tyres for wof. Currently have full set of Toyo proxes but dont have the cash to buy them at 240 each. So now I'm wondering, what tyre sizes would fit/ be suitable for 13"x7 hotwires. ATM they're 215/50/13. Is it ok to run different sized tyres on front and rear and what are pros/cons in doing so? kumho do ectsa in 215/50 for almost half the price so may go with them but just want others opinions before doing so.

Another thing I've been wondering is what effect the width of the tyre has on handling and if a narrower tyre on front would save my arms from getting so ripped from turning the wheel.
