I had an FA50 with this problem. It was embarrassingly slow at intersections 'cause 9 times out of 10 the light would be red by the time you got half way across the intersection. Cleaned out exhaust and BAM, was like a fuckin' rocket after.

As long as I'm not working, I'm in on the next one. Will have to get my Raleigh 20 back together.

Is this Edge Performance on Main South road?

Found a pic of my bro's one I was telling you about

I've always thought it'd be a good idea to have a siren in the car and one in the bonnet. Deaf thieves and others alerted. Win?

The Club are pretty good steering locks and double as two hand held bashing clubs when pulled apart(pun intended). I'd say if you're gonna leave your car unattended for any length of time you'd want a combination of everything listed above. If I'm in parking in a shit area I put wheels on full lock to kerb, steering lock and take rotor arm out.

Saw an amazing MK2 Escort on Sparks Road this monring. Full rally spec- spotlights, decals etc. Such an amazing sounding car!

My Minor had a handful of ear plugs that I claimed from the Wellington Library when it was under construction. Only in there for passengers since I just turned the stereo up til I couldn't hear road noise. ( No wonder I had to crank start it nearly every time).

Nice barn, shame its full of lame jap cars
Could be worse, might have been BMC.

You'd be surprised how brash these drop kicks can be. Have heard of people breaking in to the same home twice so they can nick their goods then steal the replacements when insurance pays out. I'd keep a very close eye on any other cars you guys have. What was the rego? I drive all over town so will keep an eye out for it in my travels.

Betchya it's the same cunts that did it too. Pics of van?

Was good to get everything else checked over though. Just need a full tank of fuel and some fun times driving now.

These stz ftw

So I got the new SU12 coil in, patched up some fucking shoddy wiring and found a there were three wires in total going to the + terminal of the coil and only one that actually had power to it. The charge light (has never come on since I've owned it) started working again momentarily but stopped as soon as the ignition was put back in the barrel but meh.
Car is running absolutely brilliantly now and doesn't miss or stutter or anything! So bloody stoked.
Cheers Pete for your help and you were absolutely right. Thanks also to everyone else who contributed.
Some pics of wiring for LOLZ. As you can see, nearly every wire has been spliced. Good stuff.
Badly spliced wire
Switch that did absolutely nothing.
Spaghetti with splices, loose wires that lead nowhere and general poor quality.
Going to have to tidy this shit up one day.....
Oh and video of it running mint if you feel the need to view.
Coil is fitted in properly not just hanging in like in the vid.

Yeah sweet as. I couldn't find any info on that other coil so wasn't sure if it was ballast or non. Will let you know how it goes tomorrow, wiring is something I actually can do haha.

Big fan of cream/beige/off white wheels, would look choice on those rims.

Just found an online parts book for Bosch and found this
Corolla 80 - 88 4K 4 1.3L SU12R - This is the one I had on (but doesn't seem to have a resistor anywhere) and am having the troubles. Also I don't have the terminal on my starter to benefit from it so have got an SU12 which I was gonna put in tomorrow, then I read on and found this-
Corolla (KE70) 81 - 87 4KC 4 1.3L 0 221 119 030- So now I'm wondering if I'm better to try find that coil or just run the SU12?
So lost....

Huge thanks to Pete (Valiant) for spending his Friday night going over my car and ruling out various issues. Have ruled out plugs, leads, carby, blown head gasket and have come to the conclusion it must be with the way the coil has been wired in. Am going to put in a new non ballast coil and wire it in properly and will post the results. Is running heaps better, timing is set properly and valve clearances are all good now.

Hot shit, may be getting somewhere with this. A bit disappointed that my auto sparky and mechanic didn't pick up on this though...
Is it possible to just chuck in a coil that has a ballast or best to go with coil same as current and have external ballast?
-
Make sure that when you put it in you do it properly so you get the advantages of it.
Elaborate?
-
Not necessarily - measure the resistence between the 2 low tension terminals on your coil (thats the two 6mm posts on either side of the large post in the centre)
It should be around 3.0 - 3.4ohms - if it is around 1.5-1.7ohms it may be incorrect.
Though I'm just trying to remember if KE70's used an external ballast or not from factory.
Just measured it and it came out at 1.9ohms...
-
Have you got your original coil?
Nah didn't come with it when I bought it.
Would putting a resistor on be a good start then?
-
No it doesn't. Have been reading on net and I'm thinking this could be the beginning of my problems. When searching the coil number the label clearly says "USE WITH RESISTOR", my label has come off so had no idea

Sweet, thanks Valiant. What time is good?
Left to rot.....

What part of NZ is it?
