Thing is I know a chap north of chch who has a big paddock full of fiats and lancias - and I know there will be a few sets of that style - much closer than akl. Guess i'd need the check the offset too...
Ive been for a look around there. He has a lot of rare stuff!
Have you been inside the sheds? - Ian showed me his V8 Merc the last time I went out there - plus I couldn't believe some of the other cars he had...
Yes, ive been in the shed. I was told I had to go have a look, so we made a special trip from Christchurch.

As long as the piston bore clearence is good there should be no problem.

Cheers,
Vinny
What's an '89 Fiat Coupe?

Nice review supercar
156's look hot and are nice to drive but they are a true nightmere when it comes to servicing. For the average motorists I would not recommend one. If you dont really like it, you'll probably refer to it as a lemon.
The V6 engine is quite reliable, better than the twin spark but the things stuck to it, clutch, starter motor, cambelts etc etc are not. No less reliabile than any other car but a whole lot more expensive to replace when the time comes. These cars truly are expensive to maintain for the average person.
Some tips
2L TS manual NZ new would be the one to get IMO
Stay away from the selespeed
Make sure the cambelt has been done recently, expecially on the V6.
Make sure you get it checked by someone thats knows what they are looking for, simple items like ball joints etc can cost $600 if they need to be replaced. Its not uncommon for these problems to get past a VIN.

Well no FWD turbo efi engine will drop on an old rear driver without some work. You can make it work with the right collection of parts
FYI the water pump is on the front of the engine. Im pretty sure you could fit a RWD pump straight on.
Distributer location can be changed, use a different head.
What was your first plan?

Not bad at all. chrome fittings etc so hawt right now
Was looking at a fiat 2lt turbo for my lada. being front wheel drive was gonna be to much of a squeeze.
You mean the Croma motor on trademe? That would be perfect. Croma block will bolt into a RWD. A friend of mine is doing a 124 sedan (Lada) at the moment.
Its the engines with balancer shafts that are more difficult

Sorry, just a link but well worth the click

I'm running a Roadstone and Monza 200 on the front both with 7 mm of tread, but I want to get rid of them. So unpredictable and 0 grip. I thought I'd just do heaps of b-owtz to wear them out, but can't be fucked. Anyone want them?
Ducaros are only $120 so might get them, although I got SP300Es for $110 a while ago and the guy who gave me Ducaro price said SPs are heaps more expensive than Ducaro. Waiting for guy who sold me $110 SPs to get back to me.
Monza 200 are well obsolete. I still have a set on a pulsar, the're rubbish. I have a set of 300Es on a work Corolla. I rate them well.

After some new tyres for the parts hauler, but every shop sells a different bloody brand just to confuse me. Can anyone put this list in order of best to worst, or recommend something else worth considering in the 'bit over $100' region?
185/65 R14
Bridgestone Supercat
Dunlop SP300E
Goodyear Ducaro
Nankang XR611
Firestone TZ100
Chur.
Best to worst
Goodyear Ducaro
Dunlop SP300E
Firestone TZ100
Nankang xr611
Supercat
There would not be much difference between the top 2, or the lower 2 for that matter.

The water cooling hose for the turbo on my Lancia comes straight off the bottom of the radiator and then up to the main pipe to the water pump. Its the only car ive seen like that though. Using coolant off the block is fine. 80 degrees C is much cooler than 100-120 degrees the oil can get to, not to mention the heat transfered from the turbine.
I agree its not essential on any turbo but its a good thing.
-
around $5K if its tidy and certed.
-
Put it this way, it can only be better, not worse to run coolant through the turbo. The plain bearing old T3 off my Lancia is water cooled so its got nothing to do with ball bearing, or ceramic etc. It takes a little effort but I always hook up the water cooling. People leave the water cooling off as they are lazy or its just too difficult.

Even high quality ones can be out by 0.5psi or so, some even autometer can be 1psi out.
If they dont sit on 0 with the engine off does not mean they are totally inaccurate on boost.

Most diesel engine oils have an SAE rating for petrol too. The rating will probably be older than modern petrol oil.
-
Prices have got a bit out of control really. $1000 would almost get a new set. They use to go for around $400 back when I had a car with carbs.
A lot of people buy them and spend a load of cash on them and expect ot get their money back now.

Nice selection of Pics. Thanks, caus I totally missed the event
The Peugeot 205 has a standard motor, with a turbo of course.
-
45's are kinda "standard" for these really. EFI had a bit of wow factor even though it wont really give any more power. I would not bother with 4AGE throttle bodies, just get some DCOE style ones.

Interesting car this

Does anyone know if you can get new adjustable (You adjust) belts in three point?
You can get aftermarket ones from Autoliv, through Repco etc.
You can fit just static belts (manual adjustment).
If the car does not require belts, you can remove them and get a WOF.
-
The filter can be placed anywhere after the EFI pump. You NEED to use a screen filter before the efi pump too.
-
What sort of Delta do you have?
Cage is about $1500.

Hmmm, from the pictures it does not looks like that block retains the front engine mount point. Punto blocks are the same. Front mount is by the oil filter housing. I dont know if this is revevent to an X19, I dont know where they mount.
