  1. Well, its officially road legal again, and man is it driving so awesome! Pics will be taken tomorrow hopefully, once this weather shifts off its getting a clean and photo shoot
  2. Thats really close to where the car is now, 300m or so, so might just pop in there once we got the car back and see what they say, cheers for that, much appreciated We were going to go to Precision Brake and Clutch specialists out in Takanini. Where we took the car for a WOF (Critchleys in Takanini - they are big on BMC cars), recommended us that place when we called them today to ask something, but yea don't know anybody that have used them before, might just go to stirling instead
  3. Yea, we were initially going to take it to 2 seperate places, but me having very little spare time at the moment it was going to be very hard to organise, found this place that seemed to do everything so thought SWEET We are now taking it to a brake/clutch specialist (told geddes to jam it where the sun dont shine basically) This place just gets worse and worse, i called them MANY times today to arrange everything, and before midday (about 11:45 I think) I called and said ok I will be in at 4, will it be done, "yea thats fine you will probably just have to wait around for it to finish", so I turn up at 4, look at that, they have done some of the work, and the car is still in pieces, nope wont be finished till tomorrow, then blames me to taking "3/4 of a day to return the phone call", which was actually 2.5 hours, during which they told me they had already started everything anyway, plus plus plus plus, I can't be bothered with it, he got an ear full today and I ain't exactly being kind tomorrow
  4. GEDDES AUTOMOTIVE = Don't bother with them, we have had only troubles over the last 2 days with the Morris They quote roughly that fixing rust will be between $80 and $150, they decide its now $280 and do it without asking us The rear drums needed machining - they decided no they have rusted and we need new ones - $300. No, we had them off a few days ago and no rust at all and they are perfectly clean, so I managed to stop them before they did anything, and now they are just being wankers about the rest of it because I said no to them doing this part Just called somebody that knows/deals with parts for the old BMC cars, they say they have NEVER heard of the rear drums rusting and when I said thats what we were told he said "well clean them" Not happy, we said we would pick up the car this afternoon, now they are saying it won't be ready in time "because we mucked them around"... GET FUCKED I am going to be there at 4pm like I said to pick up the car STEER WELL CLEAR
  5. If it is 4x114.3 (4x4.5) then thats sweet, easy pcd to match up for once (after having 2 cars with VERY unique stud patterns haha). Cheers
  6. at $3 a can you can't go wrong guys!! Na, back in the day (22 years ago) it had 100 hours of respray put into it, with 13 coats overall after taken back to almost bare metal, and it only cost $300 haha, how awesome is that. And that was a VERY big job back in the early 80's Its in at Geddes now, fixed over the next 2 days and pick it up thursday afternoon. Next mod will be exhaust, I don't really like the tip either especially now its all corroded almost as bad as the actual exhaust. And no not a fart cannon A stylish exhaust if I may say so, if Geddes do a good job then I will go back to them for the exhaust, they seem to be a fairly good garage from what I have seen today. Eventually want some nice old style rims for it, no idea what the PCD is though (have looked long and hard, google says nothing, these forums say nothing, other places = nothing), anyone confirm if they are just the same as a mini of similar age?
  7. Well I have found a place that can do it all, Geddes Automotive in Onehunga Anybody had experience with them?
  8. Got it going into Geddes Automotive in Onehunga tonight where they will store it and work on it tomorrow, they can do everything it needs no problem and it sounds reasonable price so yea, should be fixed by tomorrow evening, WOF on thursday, driven on friday If they do a decent job I might use them for an exhaust - they also do them haha, seem to be a true one stop shop!
  9. Haha yep, decided to jump on oldschool a few months back and see what was up The "thing" on the exhaust is a cheapo repco tip, cause even though it looks gross it looks 300x better than the tiny little rusted thing thats on there now Future plans, ummm at the moment get it road legal haha. Not modifying it really, trying to pick up a cheap cd player for it so there is some music but no luck so far, and then maybe eventually a new 2" exhaust (not loud, just shiny and NOT RUSTED), and maybe look at another air filter option. Some nice rims would be good, the stocks 12s don't do much for it My dream would be to turbo it or do a transplant, but doubt that will ever happen Drove it back home from our hangar tonight, in the rain , so its here now so no excuse to get the last few things done for a WOF! And yea, not sure whats happening with the plates, no idea what the story is. My mum mentioned something about the whole "changing from old style to that style plates" and that maybe the owner at the time took a while to get them changed or something along those lines, not sure I will have to ask again Rego sticker says it was first registered in NZ in 9/71 so yea
  10. Just discovered the photos in the first post had died - so fixed those Had my uncle around fixing everything that was wrong when we took it for its last warrent and it failed. New wheel bearings, bled brakes/clutch, etc, etc and is now running mint, its so nice to drive Havn't put the steering wheel in, its quite nice keeping it 100% original, and the wood might look strange. I am used to the massive wheel now anyway, so see how it goes. Took it for another WOF and failed AGAIN but if I get around to it, then it should be road legal by the end of the week. The things left to do are requiring specialist tools so I will be taking it to a brake specialist and a panel beater to get the last of it done during this week, I am just hoping for good weather, it hasn't been driven in the rain for 10 years I would say So close to road legal! But yea, when I bring it back home from the hangar I will get some new pics I promise haha After its road legal I am trying to find a very cheap CD headunit for it and going to be putting my fusion speakers in (won them at 4 & rotor nats 2006 auckland soundoff) just so there is some music, the stock headunit has given up a while back and is AM only
  11. Car = 1971 Morris 1300 Just seeing where you would recommend to go around South Auckland (don't want to venture far from central manukau as no WOF or reg) for the following work, and any rough prices I should be expecting as to not get ripped off, this is the only stuff left picked up in a WOF in friday: LH front door rusted - underside of the door has some rust spots, I don't have the time right now to tackle it myself so just going to get someone to do it, unsure if its just a grind/bog job or if weld job, got a panel beaters we use I am thinking of going to, but any suggestions of somewhere nice and cheap? RH Steering rack boot - has a tear, needs replacing, suggestions of where to go and rough costs? RHF Brake host - starting to perish, replacement part should be easy and where to go would be same place as the next problem: Rear brakes grabbing - rear left drum has warped, locks quite easily, need it machined out. Any suggestions of where to go, and prices involved? If its crazy expensive I might just see if I can get a second hand one Any help would be awesome, cheers
  12. Just got the first modification for it the other day, the stock steering wheel is too big for me to comfortable drive the car (couldn't actually fit well) so been working on getting a new one for about a year now Finally, realised my uncle had a spare one lying around he was planning on using on his offroad project but its too small for offroading so now I have it Havn't fitted it but it seems good, don't know if it will fit, its just got a universal boss kit so will need to check it out some time
  13. Well this car has been in the family for a very long time, used to be my mums daily car, then she stopped using it and my grandpa drove it (got a fair few dings from him sadly) Then my grandpa couldn't drive any more so it was stored in their garage for 8 years. We got it out of storage just over a year ago, got my uncle to come up and get it running again Anyway, its rego is on hold (don't want to lose the old skool original looking white-on-black plates) and it failed its WOF for some stupid reasons which are easy fixes So here it is now, starts first pop every time, doesn't blow too much smoke haha Just needs brakes bled and the clutch is starting to stick - uncle comming back up to auckland soon so will get him to check it while hes up Its 100% original, with 54,000 miles on the clock I will get some better photos of it when I take it for its drive around the block tomorrow to stop anything ceasing up like last time (someone left its handbrake on for about 7 months storage which got jammed on last time)
  14. That was my original plan, but yea would be quite hard
  15. Damn, so many good things happening the one weekend I am busy (doing 48 hour film festival) Oh well, gives me more time to get the morris back on the road and running sweet (well very close, just needs warant)
  16. So a MG Metro turbo engine would just bolt straight on to standard mounts with no problems and just use the standard gearbox? Would the MG be mounted as landcrab as well or "normal" with adjustments?
  17. I got a 1971 morris 1300, and wanting to look at a engine transplant in the future to something old skool and stock turbo Going to be quite hard as its a land crab (engine in sideways, radiator out front left wheel arch) i was looking at a uno turbo on trademe, but na that will be too hard, any other suggestions?
