  1. Ok so the car has rocked up at the garage, Apparently the original VTNZ test is subject to 28 days for the retest? and if it goes over the time then I have to get it re-vinned? I am not familiar with process but sure someone here is. cheers
  2. thanks man, so where does that leave me with VTNZ? will they have to accept it? i.e it's exempt? or will they kick up a stink? Is the glass actually tinted with no film? i've organised for it to be sent straight from CHCH to a garage in NP...who will also check out a 1JZ- GTE...for me to think about.
  3. Yep is alot of stuffing around, we will see how keen I am when the time comes, if I lived full time in NZ would be easier, also the wagon has electric adjust tilt and reach, so that also would need to go. Have seen new Pitman arms come up on Yahoo but as is always the way, when you need the parts they disappear. The cracked chassis rubber mounts might be harder to source I'm guessing, and would hardly be a safety issue I would say.
  4. thanks, have joined now and will start wasting alot of time I'm sure!
  5. OK thanks, have browsed the page, and I can't find where you can search individual cars/auctions, unless you need to join? (which I tried to do, but the 1980's website wouldn't recognise my email?) Yeah 20 years old next year, time flies which is why you need to buy archaic JDM cars now ! I sold my 97' recently as I'm building more garages on a property, and I want a lower KM post 2005 model in dark navy blue. They are the ducks nuts.
  6. whats provide cars like? any good? I see that they have a kiwi guy on their team http://www.providecars.co.jp/about/meet_the_team/The_Sales_Team/sales_Les_Brimblecombe.html I'm wanting to import another later model century soon.
  7. Yeah love the bench seats. I'll consider importing the bench seat set up, have seen packages go through Japan Yahoo, shipping will be a killer though......
  8. was thinking that, LTSA are a bunch of fags
  9. Also on fail list * de-tint car * remove rear wheel spacers Also not sure what they mean by "machine rear drums" as i'm nearly certain the car is 4 wheel discs...\
  10. Won this auction the other day. Have a soft spot for Crowns but wagons especially.A few people on here would have been watching this auction, Will be delivered up to New Plymouth later this week sometime, Failed on a few things, so will need to sort out; the list is: *HP lights to be replaced * Diff Cross brace rubber to be replaced *Left hand side Idler Arm * Front + Rear top shock rubbers to be replaced *Indicators to work *Steering drop arm ball joint to be replaced *Machine rear drums *glove box to shut *cracked rubber Body to chassis mounts to be replaced to start with I just want to get it rego'ed, which will mean having to track down above parts, made harder by the fact I live overseas mostly, however a lot of internet searches and phone calls should have it sorted. Once it's legal then will look into 1JZ-GTE, the biggest issue (maybe) will be the fact that these still run a steering box, and not sure if it will be a straightforward drop in or involve some mods. Wheels - alot of options, that look good on these|: I'm also madly searching Yahoo.co.jp for a set of these lights, found on the base model vans, and deluxes; if anyone has or knows where I could find a set in NZ give me a yell The headlight conversion makes the car look 1000x better to my eyes, so I need them.. Also if anyone has a set of MS137 / UZS131 88-91 alloys for sale let me know, the old man wants them for his Hiace, same as the set below: If anyone can help with any of the parts i'm after will be eternally grateful.
  11. fair enough, but anyway here is a RT hand side ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOYOTA-CRESSIDA-MX62-WAGON-1981-1984-RIGHT-SIDE-TAIL-LIGHT-genuine-/261594301252?hash=item3ce83c4344
  12. Or probably a cheaper option --- Cressida wagon in VIC Australia. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/boronia/other-automotive/broken-and-used-cars-for-sale/1090681307
  13. The seller is selling both sides, which he would have to buy so they match, they are from the facelifted GX60 wagon, but will fit..
  14. http://page14.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/s444376791 On yahoo japan, I'd buy if I were you, they don't come around often.. Here's my old one up for sale.. http://www.autotrader.co.nz/used-cars-for-sale/toyota-cressida/1459658
  15. If you look inside the actual plenum (take the plastic grates off) you will probably find that there are rust holes inside just above the heater blower.. Usual place they go, hard to get in there to fill.
  16. Left hand side near where carpet is buggered.

  18. So I bought my Century last year as a Christmas present to myself... Have always been into Jap Barges, owned plenty of Crowns, and two Nissan Presidents over the years. I live in Australia but it resides here in NZ for when I visit home. I had intentions of doing up a 1984 Crown wagon GS126 that I had bought earlier but realised that being back only a few times a year, makes this very very difficult, so sold it to Bogangeof ...this allows me to drag out the Century and give it some attention. The Century is immaculate with 46,000km , even the interior smells new, one is the more desirable VG45 (long wheel base model) I bought it sight unseen and flew back at Christmas to pick it up, drove it down from Auckland to the Naki, Old school 4.0 pushrod V8 means this isn't a fast car but a great cruiser and will accumulate speed without you realising, just sails along. It also generates a massive amount of interest, if you are going chuck in petrol allow for an extra 15mins to talk to strangers who will try to guess what it is, and where it's from. What I have done so far is remove the massive CRT TV and VCR, retro cool but was bulky and uncomfortable to drive with it, and left no where to put your left arm. By the way in the VCR player was a video of The Godfather...dubbed in Japanese (no lie). I also found some paperwork in the door map pouch that is in Japanese with some English, suggests that the car was used as a Municipality car In Tokyo and as recently as 2011. The leather is totally unmarked and softer and more comfortable than the leather in my Lexus '06 LS430. I also imported a 15" factory alloys set from Japan earlier this year (Alloys were fitted instead of the Hubcaps after late '91). Bought some Michelins Tyres and I reckon makes the car look much much better, and certainly handles better. I want to keep the car 100% stock, so this and tinting the windows are as much as it gets. The struts that hold up the heavy as hell bonnet and boot lid I had regassed, nothing more annoying than being hit on the head. The Air con blows cold both front and back, but it does have small issues i'm going to fix: really would like to get my hands on a wiring diagram and drop it into the Auto Electricians... There seems to be some fuse or short as: The electric quarter windows work fine only two of the actual door windows do. The dealers tried to fix the windows themselves, and butchered the left rear window motor (I'll have to get on Yahoo Japan and order some more). The interior lights don't work The digital dash trip meter don't hold memory, so everytime the car is turned off they reset The digital clock and the stereo are also out, apparently these were working fine just before the car was sent over here from Japan, so need to do some trouble shooting. The TEMS doesn't work either - no lights on the dash and it is failing to soak up corrugations resulting in a thunk everytime you hit a pothole, anyone a TEMS expert?? i'm not sure whether to bother to fix the TEMS, or just replace to normal struts (apparently not too difficult with these things) but the most important thing from my point of view is that the ride is soft and dreamy as you would expect from this luxo barge behemoth. I am also keen to buy a GZG50 V12 century, I drove one when in Japan last and they are beasts, let me know if you come across one for sale here in NZ otherwise i'm going to import one (It can sit in the garage next to the VG45 as I wait for it to be old enough to get compliance)...
  19. This is now for sale thread is here: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/49554-fs-1984-gs126-toyota-crown-wagon-2000-new-plymouth/
  20. I'm now selling this to make room for a another Crown wagon i'm importing, see F/S thread here //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/49554-fs-1984-gs126-toyota-crown-wagon-2000-new-plymouth/
  21. had a call around,,,no one has one and they can't help with locating one. I'll see how much to get the Engine here in Sydney to NZ...
  22. the wagon's factory manual - know of any 1GGZE's from a crown around? ease of installation makes it appealing.
  23. Have decided to go with a 1GGZE as it will be a piece of cake to install...Not looking for massive power etc, but nicer to cruise in - also has that '80's retro feel. Thing is where to find one, there is one on ebay atm but in Oz,. who knows how much to get back to NZ, anyone know where I can get a 1GGZE from? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/JDM-Toyota-1G-GZE-engine-from-Crown-with-automatic-transmission-/331583399081?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item4d33e924a9
