If your in chch I know you should buy this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... d=49147347
needs a distributor but has a ca18et!
I'm weighing up whether to buy it as a parts car

its not exactly easy to find parts for FJ engines anymore. y
Actually parts aren't that hard to find it's paying for them that is the hard part! And they don't need much done to them to pack a really mean punch (Nearly bulletproof bottom end - and the thickest cylinder wall of any production four cylinder engine I believe)

The Allison does it I have to go for the overkill (I'd rather have a Merlin tho ):
Gotta love the Oompa Loompas~!

Heh I'm in Christchurch...

Because it was registered in NZ before 1991 the attitude towards rereg is alot more relaxed (And less costly). When I got my Silvia complied they had to COMPLETELY strip the car and the process alone cost $600 ($340 compliance $244 new plates) The biggest concern is whether or not it has been crashed and repaired because then engineers certs are required for the repairs and it starts to get VERY expensive. Seatbelt mounts, brakes and suspension integrity are the other important areas.

Yeah I do! Small world...
Love the Cortina man how long you had it?

It's a 1984 CA18ET Notchback with period correct Enkei mesh alloys (Gold with lip!) and it has been resurrected from dead registration status. Surprisingly though I'm only the third owner from new so it's in really good nick (Only had 170000km when I got it)
