This. I would go 4X4 if you plan on towing.
Check if the injector seats and seals have been replaced in the past 50k.
Why 4x4? and is that for hiluxs or all diesels? (injectors)

D22 Navara.
2.5l ones? I would prefer a bigger engine for towing tbh
2wd 1KD lux
I have been looking at these as well. Nicer to look at than the Rodeo for sure. Need more explanation

Sorry I forgot to say. 15-16k max budget

Hey guys
I'm looking at buying a new ute. I had a 97 rodeo which was pretty awesome but it had done well over 500,000km and was just worn out and was probably not much good for towing any more.
I need something with a decent tow rating, diesel manual, good reliable daily, double cab ute is probably the best for me, personally.
What's good and what's not? I do like the look of the 2007+ rodeos and the 4jj1 seems to have good feedback. What's the go with other brands? Need 2500 minimum towing and 2wd is all good/preffered

What did you change, Kris?

Use blue loctite then?

The flange that bolts to that housing has a v-band on it. Just use one of them?

I've heard of a few similar stories about young engineers and also some council inspectors around town having had some pretty big threats against them for annoying builders over the years! The Carterton council have been pretty damn good though, I must say and luckily I don't have to deal with any engineers
I've only ever used steel mesh before, so I was very dubious about the hairy bog (it was stated in my plans to be used) but I'm more than happy so far.
There are actually a few neighbours around but the closest two are probably 200-300m away so that's good. They all have covenants stating that they can't subdivide etc so it should stay as a "small lifestyle block"
I'll probably just use the land for a few beefies/homekill etc. I also want to develop the natural spring near the back into a wetland, incorporating that into my backyard when I one day build an actual house.

Long time no update!
Had a bit of balls up with the council/plumbing plan change which took about 5 weeks to get sorted and stopped me from pouring the slab, so I went about doing other menial tasks.
First up, I spread 70 tonne of 65mm then 20 tonne of 20mm basecourse with the tractor, hand raking much more than I wanted to! Getting it any where near flat with a tractor is a lot harder than you'd think, especially with the middle poles in the way. Compacted with a 500kg compactor in multiple stages then put 6 tonne of sand over top and compacted again. The plumber popped in one arvo and put some pipes in.
I borrowed my old boss Mark's 1.6 tonne digger and went to town, digging 120m of trench for the power cable and an extra 20m or so for the phone. Dug under the creek by hand later on and also through the gardens at the front of the section. Fun times!
Driveway dug out and 60 tonne of 40mm basecourse spread out
Up at 5am to lay out some polythene over the sand. Then four lads and a concrete truck turned up at 7. Home by 10. Mist didn't clear til about 1pm. I left them to powerfloat it and do the roller door rebates.
There is no steel mesh in the slab hence laying the polythene the same morning. We used fiber mesh mixed into the concrete itself. Basically the newtech/hairy bog version of concrete!
Once again borrowing Marks tools. I pumped water from the creek about 60m away to cut the concrete into 4x4m squares. Quite impressed with the fiber mesh tbh.
Started the rest of the framing this week, just as the weather has turned to custard. Wind and rain ftl
Couple random pics. Danger tape and trench back filled

Could you tig braze it with silicon bronze or something?
I actually have no idea but I learnt that silicon bronze is good for header flanges last week.

I can't help with much else but don't even some 90s coil packs still have condensers? I had 4g93 coil packs on my gemini and I'm positive it had a condenser (or atleast something that looked like one) on it

Going to wire them to 14awg with a relay just to be sure, as I can't find any info on coil amp draw =\
Cheers Ned

I just thought that because they were all firing individually they might only draw a small amount at a time, but I'm not that flash with electronics lol
-
That's exactly what had crossed my mind, Ned. So I think I'll just go that route to be safe.
I have no idea what they draw tbh. Dwell is about 3ms, fully sequential setup
-
Wiring up a COP setup at the moment for 2jzge. Now the factory body loom has a relatively small 18ga? wire (12v) to feed the factory igniter and single coil.
Will this wire still be big enough to feed 12v to 6 individual coils?

I can also vouch for Alex / mlracing
Awesome to deal with!

Good bits gone unfortunately =(

Got a little tipsy tonight..
May need a new boot floor! This and the A pillars are the worst bits, the rest is pretty solid thankfully.

Awesome! Not this one by any chance? It was previously gloss black. I remember it swinging Os across the road from maccas 5-8 odd years ago.
They're definitely loads of fun to drive

Did you see theres a Piazza down south wrecking on trademe too, good to lend its brakes and diff for you...
Couldn't find it =(

My other coupes boot floor is immaculate from memory. Funny how the exact same car can rust in different spots. I find the inner front guards are almost always rusty except on later model ones where they have plastic to protect them. Unsure about Chevettes as I've only owned 2 and never bothered to do them up.
Standard isn't in my vocabulary Unsure of plans yet but it'll be Isuzu powered.

Hah, Steelies, Goat and I totally rolled past you at the Mobil in Masterton in Steelies Coon wags on saturday,
brought up a decent conversation about Geminis and chromes
Hah! I seen you guys go past and thought "that looks like Steelies' Coon"
Gemini's and chromes are an Aussie dream mayte!

So I went to Marton and picked this Gemini coupe up on Saturday for $1000. It's 99% complete and not completely rust fucked. Even drove it on and off the trailer.
G200z
It now looks like this.
I'm going to build a rotisserie for it in my spare time. I'm meant to be working on my shed/home so progress will be a bit slow to start with!

Do the 2wd come only with the 2.5? I'm not too fussed on looks, I just want something good tbh, it's just a daily after all
