PS.. I need a mk2 cortina have had a vision & need to build a new car
Hey Mate...
I have got a 67 4 Door shell... is an auto shell too so has a bigger tunnel is quite rust free and ripe for a project...
-
im also in chch.. keen for a meet... just need to get a car going
-
i used a pipe wrench to get locknuts off a mk5 i wrecked... worked well too...
-
I use Magan Motors in Palmers Road north new brighton... never had any problems and they are very helpful and trustworthy

also something to add to the conversation, if you are "rebodying" another car. (using the plates off another one) etc etc... make sure you find out why it came off the road originally, a friend of mine got some plates off an old cortina and used them on his. the reason the old car came off the road was because it had major cancer in the A pillar. it passed the wof with flying colours. when the office people where processing the paper work it got queried on the previous structural rust.. where is the welders certificate of repair etc etc.. the car that got the new plates had never been rusty there in the first place. and car was a different colour to tags etc etc... so morral of the story is find out why your donor car came off the road originally.. as you may have issues come warrant time...
also heard that they are looking at stopping the re-vinning on old cars??

sent you a PM regarding a Proper valuation.... get in touch if you want me to arrange it for you...
-
hey gaz,
sorry to see what happened with your cortina, if you like i can arrange a vaulation from the cortina club, as even at $6k you are short changing yourself....
also if you do end up fixing it yourself get in touch as i have 2x cars im wrecking so i have heaps of bits and pieces. thinking about it i also have access to a 67 4door body shell. its really rust free and may be a good way to fix your car especially if the chassis is bent. cant you also insist that your car be fixed, based on that it is a very rare car and impossible to get another in the same condition with the same specs etc...
anyway let me know if you want a valuation sorting.... the same thing happened to a guy down here a few years ago... but we got him a fair settlement from the insurance company...
cheers

I've got a nearly rust free straight 1963 four door Mk1 cortina I'm thinking of selling. It is driveable and all parts are there minus the carpet, hoodlining and a couple of the chrome side stripes. Interior has definetly seen better days. Body is in amazingly good nick (98% rust free) and straight. Bonnet says consul not cortina, believe this means it is the very early cortina but I'm not positive. Rego is dead. Lowered on trident rims with eagers. I have no idea of what it is worth. Was thinking somewhere around 2000-2500? Is this reasonable or am I too high or low?
Any help much appreciated.
$2000-2500 seems like a good price if it is as good as you say it is. you could also get it re-vinned and sell it with rego and wof, would guess you would get around the $4000+ mark. good luck
-
Consul is off a small Zephyr.
AFAIK it's not got anything to do with Cortna.
Good luck with sale.
pre airflow cortina's 62-64 are known as consul cortina's so yes your badges are correct and it is relevant to the cortina....
