well i found the project thread for this POS on page 14, finally dragged it home with the intention of getting it road legal again, on closer inspection its gonna need a fair bit of rust work as you can see, but im looking forward to getting some work done on it finally

would be keen on a set of rs 4 spoke wheels, the 5.5/6 inch ones sell for about 10pounds per wheel over there.
-
sounds like a good idea... keen

Sounds good to me, I'll talk to the GF and see what she wants to do. I suggested that we get one to store up in the shed uncase the minx engine ever lets go after it's 40 years of hardship. Can you explain what the internal differences/advantages are with the Hunter engines?
I guess being the alloy head motor they have more power and are a bit quieter other than that I dont know the differences/advantages sorry
-
I still have to go down to the shed and find those 1 inch blocks for you, should be down at the shed this weekend
-
how does $150 for a motor with all the bits carb/dizzy/alternator/mounts etc sound?
-
Cheers,
Yeah this one has a lot of water build up and mayo under the rocker cover which would indicate blown head gasket, however it drives mint, all the plugs look fine, and there's no oil in the water.. so maybe moisture build up over so many years. I don't think the oil's been changed for quite a while.
Gonna flush it then see what happens, if the heads cracked then I'll put a alloyhead hunter motor in, 1500gt are yours hunter motors? Are there really many advantages with the hunter motor over the minx engines?
yep both are from hunters, one is from a 77 and one from a 74.
i do also have a complete 67 hunter with an alloy head motor too
-
i have 2x alloy head motors here in chch, ones in the shed, has been going and the other one is still complete and in the car... get in touch if you want to come and have a look.
cheers

were you running the alloy or cast head motor?
-
i have some hunter bits and pieces here if you need anything, a couple of 1725cc alloy head motors and a set of twin carbs/with rebuild kits with the mainifolds/linkages etc. was thinking of putting them on the hunter but could be persuaded to part with them
cheers

wheels were 15x8 according to the guy i got the car off, hence why those guards have such heavy rolling on them, but yeah overall pretty bad, recon it looks way better now
-
also here are a few pics of it in 2002 when it lived in dunedin...
at the monster tacho and rear spoiler
-
they would even look good with a silver/grey centre? and a polished rim. not a fan of black centres, recon it hides the detail of the rims if you know what i mean...
-
i have one for a mk2 cortina, can get pics if required. it bolts through the strut tops so no welding etc
-
rims in wellington will look will look better on the cortina than the ones from invercargill
-
yeah all good, should have a hunter or a cortina i can bring along
photoshop my car please, new paint
