Drive the pants of it in WagON season (preferably to Wagnats which starts in 5 weeks from today) and do rust/bog repairs in WagOFF season..

WagON season is only Oct to Feb - WagOFF season is Mar - Sep

I will have to fix it in wagON and wagOff season then lol. I might have it road legal by WagOn season 2012

sweet car, some good progress being made. I would love a GTO myself .... one day

front guard will fit. don't think the doors fit as the body is quite different on a wagon. where abouts in NZ are you? I have a couple of sets of sedan doors

buy a spot weld drill bit to remove the front guards. dont chop them off as you need to keep the inner guard and top rail intact

pcv valve thing blocked? mine used to blow the oil filler cap off

where abouts are you located goofy, got some lowering stuff for my hunter that I could sell if you are interested?

there are a couple of options, using the gearbox the same as hunteds old cortina, its out of a 1600mk3 cortina with the imput shaft shortened a little,you can heat the gearstick up a little and bend it to clear the seat if its a little far forward

The other option is to fit an anglia gear stick and selectors into a standard column change box, this brings the stick out to this sort of location, you do need to modify the reverse selector for the anglia stick to work. otherwise keep a look out for a standard floor change box. you would be paying somewhere between $300 and $500 for a smk2 floor change box depending on model/condition
