I will take some pics in the next couple of days to show what I removed
-
removed EGR Crap and cut some plates to cover the holes up. everything appears to be working as it should now. and it is noticeably quicker too
so Isuzu = clocked (well until the next thing goes wrong)
thanks for your help guys

I threw a brand new turbo on it 6-8 months ago and cleaned all the lines etc out then at the same time i put the 4jb2t oil return line from the rocker cover back down into the sump to clear any excess oil build up in the head.
I will put a boost gauge in and see if the turbo is doing anything. has near new glow plugs and injectors. It is still running the EGT crap I haven't removed it yet. I was thinking that something associated with it might be causing the problem as the fire was on that side of the engine. all the vacuum hoses are looking tired and a little cracked etc so it will be a good opportunity to get rid of it.
I will try that tomorrow after work and report back
cheers

hey guys
I have a 1990 Isuzu Bighorn with the 4jb1t 2.8 turbo diesel motor.
It had an issue last week where the starter motor solenoid jammed on basically cooking the starter motor and the wiring associated with it (caught fire) i have replaced the wiring and the starter motor.
It now runs and goes well when cold. however when it gets to operating temperature it looses most of its power. you cant hear the turbo spinning up and it throws alot of black smoke out of the exhaust.
im thinking it has cooked a sensor somewhere causing the wastegate to stay open? anyone have any ideas?
cheers
Karl

I have a 1990 Isuzu Bighorn Irmscher S LWB. 2.8 Turbo Diesel Manual.
looked around for ages to find one that wasnt rooted.
ended up putting a new turbo on it when i got it. It has 31's. had to get some of those rubber guard extensions for it as they run a 205/70/16 factory

After pulling the front out I had a dig through my parts stash and found a gold bonnet. although it is the wrong gold it does the job
also fitted grill, headlight, bumper from my parts stash. bumper is slightly bent up on the drivers side but that can be fixed later
next came to replace/fix all the broken odds and ends
replace bonnet release cable, strip fusebox and clean corrosion to get the horn and headlights working again, strip dash and get the illumination working,
replace heater core and dash control cables. flush cooling system and refill with antifreeze. change oil and filter
re assemle interior
and install some cheap sounds
ramflow for the dirty old pinto - everyones favourite engine
Got a wof - went straight through
paint some rustkill on the nasty repair until i can be bothered filling and smoothing
the only thing left to do is change the rims for something more oldschool
