  1. It is common to have engine bay fires in these. ive had one in one of mine too. the brass fitting that the fuel line goes onto is pressed into the carb and have a tendancy to fall out.

I have a pile of spare parts if you need anything, I might even have one of those ugly spotlight grills somewhere :D

when you do your 5 speed conversion you will need a sierra speedo cable as they are slightly longer than the cortina one

all goodly :) .and cheers, mines a wee way off,its heading into the garage once my escort van goes into storage for a full engine bay overhaul, its rough as guts atm(millions of extra holes etc),wish me luck, lol

good luck lol... looks like im gonna have to pull the gold one apart this weekend. theres a big puddle of oil under it :doubt:

joys of old fords ae?? .if ya need any little bits and pieces let me know, ive got a parts mark 5 here, most of the parts are gone off it into my black one but ive got excess bits from both the black and the parts one(im building the black one as 1 good one out of the two, lol).you havent got any window seals that run along bottom of door windows??mine is missing them :?

puddle of oil was because the oil cap had blown off and the mrs was driving it around for 2 days with no cap  do you have a good mk5 bonnet? preferably in red... in looking at putting the other crashed one back together now. i found somewhere in the UK you can buy those window weather seals from, I will find out who it was

  3. wow that was a quick fix mate you must have finished the work on the house :-)

get that sweet mk2 wagon of your done now

haha... house is way off being finished... im waiting on EQC to sort themselves out. i did roll it out of the shed over the weekend so you never know.

I see you have come to your senses and decided to stay in NZ... what sort of project are you after?

  5. sorry to butt in,but [i500gt],you wouldnt have a pair of ghia over riders stashed would you??im after a pair for the rear bumper on my mark 5 ghia, lol.good effort on repairing this one too, mine is a lil further off road legal, lol

sorry don't have any spare ones, my car only came with 2 so i need a couple for myself. your car looks like a good one from your project tread, it wouldn't take much to get it sorted

    cheers

    Karl

  6. id clean the carb, clean the jets/fuel bowl/carb filter etc,

from memory, its just removing the filter, disconnect choke, then five screws,

may work, but like you say you're not getting any fuel beyond the carb, that's where id look

this is where i would start too... those webbers are normally pretty good but can have issues especially if it hasnt done many kms recently. my old daily is normally hard to start first thing but seems to start fine later on in the day... but thats cos its got hardly and compression on cylinder number 3

  7. I remember that wagon or trademe, looked quite tidy from the pics.

I will have springs, possibly a regulator, most of them have suffered the same fate as yours, will definitely have a visor, and i might have a door card, will look through the parts cars next time im out at the farm
