Not good at updating.

over the last year we have:

Replaced manifold with brand new one.

Replaced all gaskets.

Replaced ignition coil,

replaced ignition leads, all points and plugs and tested compression numerous times.

have repaired the carb twice,

wired the exhaust back on three times,

given up on dodgy amp for stereo (sometimes it works...sometimes it dont...but its not a priorty)

replaced brake master cylinder

replaced carb

got upset when i looked at all the rust that is creeping through in a number of spots round the body...

replaced radiator cap

and most recently - have removed radiator for back-flush to remove rubbish/ascertain if it is blocked after its nonsense over the weekend at nats. will have to get it rodded if back flush is insufficient.

there has probably been ALOT more that has been fixed over the year but as it is my daily i tend to just sort stuff and carry on and forget to note it all...

after a long hard look at its performance over the last couple of years i will be biting the bullet and finding a way to get it a professional rebuild including valve grind etc. Esky has not been truly running happy for a very long time and is used/abused as the daily so bout time i showed it some proper love.

will also be returning to Aztech panelbeaters in the near future to get JasonK/Rossco to have a look at the rust/floorpan and find out what kind of wallet damage i am looking at for that...

Another epic nats weekend. Cheers to everyone for being GC's as usual - good to meet the newbs and put faces to names.

and HUGE thank you to JasonK, Mrs JasonK + Passenger and Joker for being AWESOME GC's and helping us find more water for my cooked esky at the napier-taupo road summit...above and beyond the call of duty guys really - I salute you (diagnostic for WTF is wrong with the esky will follow later this week in project thread. have now decided to allocate my bonus this year to a long overdue engine rebuild.)

dont worry the cressida is coming too duds has been a man-on-a-mission tryin to get it all sussed in time. im taking both cars to mechanic friend tonight to get last little bits sussed on mine/ wof for the cressida...

have finally admitted time defeat and have surrendered car to mechanic to have brake cylinder replaced before we go...stupid lack of time/money. oh well. will be nice not to have puddles of brake fluid in the garage anymore...

Okay so heres the thing:

Bike NZ in conjunction with Sport Hawke's Bay (yep thats where i work), are looking at running a Bike Polo tournament Basic gist of this is you play polo (with mallets and a street hockey ball) on your pushbikes (im sorry - no velodrome or powered bikes allowed).

We arent sure of dates or anything yet but wanted to get an idea if the numbers/interest is out there to make it a feasible event. Teams of 3. Tournament would be held over a weekend.

so what do you say guys? would our respective bike gangs be interested in entering some teams?

after nearly losing my car to an accident a couple of years back i discovered i wouldnt be able to get another 1600 mk 1 2 door like mine for any less than $6000, and we just sold my brothers two project (read :very rough) 1600 mk 2 4 doors for $800 for both. (one was mostly in pieces and one shell was beyond repair)

over the years i have spent between $600-$2000 each on a number of rolling shells/rough complete cars in varying states of decay but i noticed when i went to insure mine that the intact/reasonably straight mk1 ones are creeping up in price- as there are still considerably more mk 2's around they havent crept quite as high in average price yet (something to bear in mind)

depends massively on the engine type/mods/amount of body rust etc.

so you may need to post a little more detail/pics of what you are wanting to sell and we can give better estimates from there....

where are we thinking of having this?

I just paid for track day/nats/gymkhana. I'd like to apologize now for bringing a semi modern car to the track day/gymkhana, will hide it in a bush for the rest of nats.

This Saturday is the opening of a new bike track. They are going on a cruise for it, its from Pettigrew Green to the Puketapu Domain. 8km, all flat, free sausage sizzle at the domain and a bit of a pimp your bike competition. With 2 new stz cruisers to be won along with some t shirts and flags etc.

Starts at 9.45am, ends at the domain at 12.30. Holla if keen and we will go push some kids over.

I'm working from 9am at this event -attaching said flags. first 200 people get flags - get in fast peoples so i can hook you up

found a missing sur-clip on carb, then found split in fuel line, adjusted tappets AGAIN (they keep shifting themselves), changed timing AGAIN (to compensate for happier engine), ...

oh and please see "Parts for Sale" section. I need a new brake master cylinder. mine wont quit with the leaking despite having new seal set put in it.

ah i love ongoing projects....

car all happy now. fixed a myriad of little issues last night (everytime we undid something it showed up something else...) so its all good now! thanks for input everyone!

the current carb seems to be working fine but screw it- ive replaced everything else i can think of...whats one more aye. lol

yes have replaced the condenser and have set everything according to factory settings. no dice.

Hey all, getting desperate for ideas now- what can you throw at me...

My 1600 kent crossflow engine has been playing up for a while now. Has lost alot of pulling power, constant tappet ticking,generally runs rougher than it used to, and when i try to drive at a steady speed below 60kmh it surges (and i mean REALLY bounces) its way along.

Carb all seems to be working sweet (apart from the fact the blimmin gates have started tapping) so doesn't seem to be fuel issue, have replaced points/plugs/distrib cap/ignition coil...........i'm running out of ideas. compression tests have returned a steady 180 across the board (couldnt ask for better!), have tried screwing with the tappet adjustment and advancing the timing- not helping.

all useful suggestions welcome but please spare me the time-wasting "replace it with a 4age/ 2litre etc." crap okay?
