  1. what i done when i changed my open diff to my trd one on my chaser was this

pulled the bearings off using a modded gear puller ( had to due to were the bearings sat )

when i pulled the shims out i made sure they went back in on the correct side

changed centers over ( easy also used new crown wheel bolts ex toyota )

when it came to re-assembly of everything i sat the diff in the craddle, making sure it was meshhing correctly, placed the shims/washers in on there correct side's.

torqued the bolts up on the caps

then got engineers blue and chucked it on three of the crown wheel teeth

rotated the crown wheel in till the ink came back around and used that to check for meshing probs

as the crownn wheel turns and meshs with the pinon it whips the ink off on the surfaces that touch each other and you can tell weather or not you have good teeth contact

most bearings now days you can get about 100k kms out of ( un opened of coarse ), but if i were you man i would change them, regardless if there notchy or not, just for peace of mind

tell me what the bearing numbers are and i can get them at cost + 10%

  2. ring around a few storage places get a price and send him a bill for cost of storing his car

    for however long,

if bill isn't paid he must surrender the car back to you etc like panelbeaters do when the bill ain't paid,

and then once hes surrendered that report your plates and tags stolen get new ones and profit or just report the plate number to the cops and tell them whats happened

    mean idea

  3. Note ....... I said ......."skimming the head for more compression".

There's nothing wrong with skimming a head to make it flat.

To make any extra compression that's worthwhile, say bringing it up from maybe 8.5 to 9, or 9 to 9.5 involves taking a LOT off the head.

Personally I've had 80 thou taken off iron heads and had ongoing problems which took me a while to figure out.

Why suggest it then... why give advise that you know is going to fail and cause problems? What the hell does your speel have to do with "is it worth putting twin webbers on a hillman hunter?"

  4. and forced

were talking about hilman hunter 1725 engines that have been around for many years there cast, alley wasnt even a thought on these engines hillman imps yes hunters no

Sorry love he is correct. Either cast iron or aluminium head. If hes got the iron head its probably worth getting the carbs just for the manifold. they seem pretty uncommon.

And skimming is worthwhile if using the aluminium head because they are so prone to heat/warpage.

franklin cams have a good cam regrind available, cant remember specs of top of my head. kelford didnt really have an idea of what to do with hunter cam last time i contacted them

You should do your exhaust first tho. makes heap of difference

  6. most gen filters are either fram and or donaldson

most filter suppliers or gen filters do offer a garrentee on there filters.

for instance if something goes wrong with a filter i sell for any tractor or machinery i have to go get a inderpented oil test to prove that i was the filter that failed or if it was something internal, more often than none its the oil that pple use and not the filter

    theres nothing wrong with fram

  7. haha yes, every old man used to stop and talk to me. and then be actually suprised when i knew stuff about it, fully just expecting me to be like uhhh im a girl.

Yea it sucks with how narrow it is in the rear aye. You pretty much gotta roll the guards a little bit.
