Yeah think I'm just going to keep the Bilstein/Tein combo for the time being - I wouldn't mind finding different springs to bring the front up a touch more, or will see how the front sits once the lighter manual trans is swapped in. After swapping in the new strut tops and bumpstops I flipped the camber adjustment bolt (can go one of two ways) - I had it set to max negative camber when I initially put in the springs and in hindsight I probably didn't need to as lowering the car had the same effect of dialing in negative camber anyway. With the bolt flipped back to how it was originally, I still have about -1.5deg in the front which is plenty enough and the bonus is the front tyres don't rub on the inner guards any more.
Noice.
front swaybar upgrade when you're doing the manual swap too?

Never heard of her
4 hours ago, fuel said:Just stock Bilsteins with Tein lowering springs, recently had to replace the front strut top mounts and the bump stops as they were wearing out and made it sit a good 10mm lower in the front than it needed to. I thought it was odd that the car the springs came out of didn't sit as low as mine in the front, didn't think the auto trans was that much heavier. And yep the superpro rear bar went in earlier in the year ahead of my trip to tail of the dragon - I have it on the softest setting right now but even at its softest it should be more stiffer than the stock rear sway bar.
Reckon the bilies are up for it or time for some coilovers/springs in the boot?

Looks like fun!
What suspension does it have in it and did you get that rear sway bar installed yet?

Hey Bro, the celica is looking the goods!
I'd definitely have a look at gearbox venting as could've possibly become blocked over time with schmutz etc?
Other thought is, have you changed gear oil at all?
-
Good to see it's going to get some use again @Hemi!!!
I agree with leaving the treefiddy in there, it moves that thing along just fine ay!

Thanks for the info guys
Now to find a TT140/TT142/TA61/TA63 crossmember!!!
They are very rare over here is Aussie, would anyone know of any that might be for sale in NZ?? There is a guy wrecking a TT142 on trademe, have already hit him up but no luck!!
-
Hey guys,
I am in the process of fitting a 3TGTE into an RA65 celica and was hoping to find a crossmember that would provide a bolt in solution.
The engine still has the factory mounts, I read on an old forum that an SA60 crossmember worked but am hoping to get some confirmation prior to tracking one down
There is also the TT142 crossmember, can anyone confirm if the corona version has same chassis/LCA mounts as celica?

Well Im glad somebody finally started a project thread on this cause Im bloody useless haha
I will update the project thread with some more info etc.
Thanks Hemi for taking all those pics!!!

Hey Camel I was possibly wondering if I could pay you to grab the bumper for me and store it until January as I have friends heading to Melbourne for the open.
If your miles away don't worry just I sorted out my quote so I knew I wanted it and now iv been told my quote has gone from 130 to 320 as its car parts which wasn't even mentioned until you go to the final payment part on the website.
if you need any thing stored etc im only down the road from boronia glenn
Yea man I'm happy to help, although if Celica RA45 is just down the road it may be easier for him.
Whatever works for you man
-
I can also help out with pickup, storage etc in Victoria
-
Yea bro grab a 44 gallon drum and we can cut it down and put some vent holes in it
Man that guy must've clocked life the night before haha

Can you get a drum from work Liam?
If not can grab one off gumtree or eBay
-
There will definitely be some king of the hill "yep" going on
Yea if Spencer brings the camping gear he has we can do a mission to BCF etc.
I am so amped for this/pooing my pants cause the gasser needs heeeaaaaaps of work to finish it haha
-
Yea that mustang motor certainly did flake, all through the radiator too.
Yea gasser working bee will be much needed I'd say haha

Mean.
Good to see people keen!!!
There will be plenty of room at mine for you early folk and we may well need some extra hands to get the gasser sorted haha
-
Im not sure if you can get it in NZ but in AUS there is a product called Morris Ankor Wax
Its pretty sweet as can just rub it on with a rag and leave it for a matt finish or polish it for more shine.
Lots of VW guys use it for their patina.

Yep is a good time for sure.
There are a lot of aussie car events that just get blown with smelly holdens and fords but this one is legit.
Lots of model As, gassers, bikes, all that sort of shit and doing the dirt drags, good fun!
-
Hi Guys,
Thought I should make you aware of this car event which is held in Newstead VIC (about 1.5 hours from Melbourne) at the start of October
If you ever went to Kumeu before it became too big it reminds me of that.
Not a lot of rules apart from what vehicles can enter (pre 65, no billet/trailer queens)
Can take booze in, start fires, do burnouts, they have a dirt drag strip etc etc.
More details are in the below link, get amongst.
Pic from last years setup, cant wait!!!

I still reckon bomb it in that green primer bro
No vents as KK said it works better with the chop
I vote anything but chebby orange. Black engine and black engine bay offset with that green/grey primer will look schmick spiro

Is there a specific type of plastic to use for the holding tank?
Would be pretty keen to do this on a smaller scale
fuel's Lancer Evo IX GT-A wagon

Surely front subframe would have to be removed anyway for manuelle swap?
May as well buy so you have it there just in case?
