Well, heres a pickle. Due to start the new engine up within next few days.
The clearance between the back of the carb and the brake booster is just over 25mm.
Theres no way that I'll fit filters anywhere near it at the moment, and it could possibly smash the current cut-down trumpet under engine load.
Any fly ideas? Obviously the "easiest" option would be to convert to unboosted brakes, but this would probably be a little bit shit in a road car? Apparently running a smaller bore master cylinder helps this though.
Adapting other boosters to fit? Apparentyl VW, Volvo and Saab ones are quite small.
E21 boosters are basically the smallest of the bmw lot - E30/E36 people convert to E21 as theyre quite skinny.

I'm gonna say an E34 5 series.
I sold mine to Nick for $2200, and it was immaculate. So comfortable, handled nicely, and even though was a 525i, it went really well.

If you wanted slightly more economical, you could prolly get a E36 or roughish E30 3 series. I'd want it to definitely be manual if was a 3 series IMO though.

Hey guys, sprayed my rocker cover using that krylon glitter blast. Shot down a good coat of etch prime and let that cure for a couple days before laying it on. Looked great. Smashed a whole can on it (too much?) and looked awesome.
Put a coat of vht clear on top after letting cure for 24 hours. Had some funny idea that lots of coats would be good, fucked it. Made it go all dull. Yay matt silver rocker cover. Dum.
I'm thinking this is because I smashed too many coats on, but then reading other forums, if you don't use the right one itll do this regardless.
Personally think it looked fine after the 1st good coat of clear.
2 questions - do it again the same with only one coat of clear?
Will it hold up ok to the heat? I've read conflicting arguments about this, and only have one can of this left now!

Hey guys,
Meet at the ferguson street lower plaza carpark at 7pm
meet us there at 7, then we'll grab some takeaway feeds at 7:30-8 from surrounding places.
- Just a note, feel free to invite other cars/people along, but you will be responsible for them! Please leave no rubbish and no skids/rowdy driving in the carpark - We've been given permission from the Plaza to use this, and we don't want to loose it.
We have a rain free car park, and the barrier arms go up shortly after we arrive, meaning no parking fees. This won't be on facebook as such, so make sure you write it in your diaries/phones.
Make sure you bring some warm clothes and a camera. Seeya there!COME DO THIS;

that looks like a butchered 1200 one.
Old mate in thailand just decided to make one fit both obvs.
Personally i'd rather go a nice flat deck with tongue and groove rather than an oddball one. But hey, least it'll be a talking point and something different. I'm sure it'll look nice.
I ordered through auto parts industrial in auckland.

Will think about 3" if I can actually fit it. Is it better to go 3" with a chambered/sports muffler than 2.5" with a straight through muffler?
-
Hey guys.
So not far off doing mine. As for resonator placement in the middle of the exhaust, is it going to be best to put the longest one I can in there? Or am I best to put two individual ones?
Straight through vs three way chambery type mufflers - how much flow/noise difference is there, and what is more important for flow, a larger exhaust or a straight through muff?
Current idea is 2.5" exhaust, into a super long resonator , then 3" inlet/outlet straight through muffler just after the diff, and an aluminised 2.5" pipe off the muffler to the bumper. Any suggestions here? Longer pipe after the muffler better for drone amirite?
