  1. In original paint $10k would be fair, with the respray I think it has been devalued quite a bit, particularly with not spraying the engine bay etc. This would have to take it down towards the $6k kyteler mentions, but it could go anywhere between depending on the buyer that turns up on the day and how much they want it.

  2. BBC Sport's chief F1 writer Andrew Benson:
"New Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo's helmet features a painting of a honey badger. He has explained why he identifies with it: 'It's an animal I discovered a few years ago. It's known to be probably the most fearless animal in the animal kingdom. You look at it and in some pictures it looks quite cute and cuddly and it seems pretty laid back but as soon as it wants something or someone crosses his territory in a way he doesn't like, he turns into a bit of a savage. He'll go after anything - lions, pythons - so he turns very quickly but he's a good guy.'"

  3. True, forgot about that one. Euros often have the battery tucked up the back of the engine bay where there isn't too much space/height. Measure the height to the bonnet where you are putting it and see if you'll get away with it. It looks like it should be ok in a Sierra.

  4. Only thing special about a euro battery is the fixing at the bottom (and they are usually pretty large). Providing you have something of suitable CCA and you can fix it into the car securely, it will be fine. Just get a euro battery though. The fixings are so much better than a flimsy bit of plastic

  5. I'm keen, 6th would be easier for me than the 15th, but doesn't look like too many people are keen either way and the weather looks a bit crap. Maybe start a new topic for the 15th to generate more interest, as people might have given up looking at this thread now?

  6. So many cool/lol things in that video, even though I only watched 5 minutes of it. Will watch it in depth tomorrow. That Corolla did a typically fail ST start, full of wheel spin and white smoke. And that RX7's overtake was hilarious. Pull back in to a tight line right after passing someone on the outside. Well done.

  7. I think the problem is lots of 'big' sedans/cars aren't usually rated to tow anything close to a mid size car on a trailer? even though we all do it?

Possibly, but I looked at this when getting my car and it is rated at 1700kg braked, which my Vectra on a trailer would come in under. I think a lot of people push it with unbraked trailers, and I have seen a couple of examples to prove this is a bad idea, but this is their choice. my car is only rated 700kg or so unbraked, so not much more than a garden trailer full of lawn clippings..

Some modern cars have a surprisingly low braked rating, so you are probably right on the money there. And some surprisingly high. It's actually interesting reading, those 2.7litre Ssangyong things have a 3.2t rating, which would be interesting to say the least.

  8. There was a real cool one where you could model it all up and then it would break it down into the most simple set of pipes to construct it and also give the lengths angles etc for cutting the pipes

  9. Big diesel 4wd's are good for towing and off road, they can't be beaten, in my opinion. Only problem with them is that they are shit at everything else. I'd weigh up how much towing you are likely to be doing and what kind of roads it will be on. Towing on gravel roads, or trying to pull a boat out of the water are very different to towing a light car from Auckland city to Hampton Downs every few weeks. If it is going to also be your daily I would lean towards a big car, but if it is going to be a dedicated tow vehicle that gets a lot of use (and the off road stuff will help also), I'd lean towards a 4wd,

It's worth noting I recently got my sedan stuck towing a trailer+car up a gravel driveway and had to get towed out by, and subsequently borrow, a Nissan Terrano    For me though I do a lot of open road k's and would much rather drive a car and sacrifice the towing capability for the odd occasion I have something behind it.
