Oh wow, that isn't good. The dual sprints was the event I was looking forward to doing again, and I was just going to try and get to a few of the others to get the car out of the shed.

Looks like a good build. Maybe just hoon this while it's all together and running sweet, and take the Mk1 off the road to do a decent build on it?
What is BSP's new project? Looks like it'd be worth keeping an eye on.

Engine looks good. Let me know when you guys are heading to a track day again. Need to get out on the track!

So the Volvo's choice.
Flat plane too, sounds like a tuned 4 cylinder.

In original paint $10k would be fair, with the respray I think it has been devalued quite a bit, particularly with not spraying the engine bay etc. This would have to take it down towards the $6k kyteler mentions, but it could go anywhere between depending on the buyer that turns up on the day and how much they want it.

BBC Sport's chief F1 writer Andrew Benson:
"New Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo's helmet features a painting of a honey badger. He has explained why he identifies with it: 'It's an animal I discovered a few years ago. It's known to be probably the most fearless animal in the animal kingdom. You look at it and in some pictures it looks quite cute and cuddly and it seems pretty laid back but as soon as it wants something or someone crosses his territory in a way he doesn't like, he turns into a bit of a savage. He'll go after anything - lions, pythons - so he turns very quickly but he's a good guy.'"- 1

They prolly will, they released this concept yeeeeaaarrrrs ago, which is quite similar to the one just released, and they said it would be a hybrid way back then.
That looks way more like an LF-A to me... But yes, but they do ruin it with pussy hybrid "tree-hugging" shit.....
Nothing wrong with hybrids if they're done right.

True, forgot about that one. Euros often have the battery tucked up the back of the engine bay where there isn't too much space/height. Measure the height to the bonnet where you are putting it and see if you'll get away with it. It looks like it should be ok in a Sierra.
-
Only thing special about a euro battery is the fixing at the bottom (and they are usually pretty large). Providing you have something of suitable CCA and you can fix it into the car securely, it will be fine. Just get a euro battery though. The fixings are so much better than a flimsy bit of plastic

I'm keen, 6th would be easier for me than the 15th, but doesn't look like too many people are keen either way and the weather looks a bit crap. Maybe start a new topic for the 15th to generate more interest, as people might have given up looking at this thread now?

Lazy Karts this Sunday or the next and perhaps a beer afterwards as per last time? Doesn't need to be anything huge, but that might be easier than organising an evening thing where only a few people turn up anyway.

Chuck the details in here mate, in the format shown.

Gutted have been hanging out for this. Keen to get back out on that track with a few other karts.

Looks cool in black. I like the earlier cars though.
Here's an awesome recent article about the rat.

I think WRC3 is the updated version of WRCP (production), which is a production plus type of car. I imagine they would be similar to the track spec ones, but they seem to have sequential gearboxes. Obviously suspension and tyres etc suited to the event they are doing also.
-
It probably would have been like an NZFMR F1 display where they run the car at half throttle and with a couple of F5000 cars that drown it out anyway. I shouldn't complain though, still a great site to see an old F1 car out on track even if it isn't at full song.

wat?better find a job soon then Yowzer, or you'll be well fucked...
Won't be able to make it tonight. Damn these months are going mighty fast!

So many cool/lol things in that video, even though I only watched 5 minutes of it. Will watch it in depth tomorrow. That Corolla did a typically fail ST start, full of wheel spin and white smoke. And that RX7's overtake was hilarious. Pull back in to a tight line right after passing someone on the outside. Well done.

I think the problem is lots of 'big' sedans/cars aren't usually rated to tow anything close to a mid size car on a trailer? even though we all do it?
Possibly, but I looked at this when getting my car and it is rated at 1700kg braked, which my Vectra on a trailer would come in under. I think a lot of people push it with unbraked trailers, and I have seen a couple of examples to prove this is a bad idea, but this is their choice. my car is only rated 700kg or so unbraked, so not much more than a garden trailer full of lawn clippings..
Some modern cars have a surprisingly low braked rating, so you are probably right on the money there. And some surprisingly high. It's actually interesting reading, those 2.7litre Ssangyong things have a 3.2t rating, which would be interesting to say the least.

There was a real cool one where you could model it all up and then it would break it down into the most simple set of pipes to construct it and also give the lengths angles etc for cutting the pipes

Big diesel 4wd's are good for towing and off road, they can't be beaten, in my opinion. Only problem with them is that they are shit at everything else. I'd weigh up how much towing you are likely to be doing and what kind of roads it will be on. Towing on gravel roads, or trying to pull a boat out of the water are very different to towing a light car from Auckland city to Hampton Downs every few weeks. If it is going to also be your daily I would lean towards a big car, but if it is going to be a dedicated tow vehicle that gets a lot of use (and the off road stuff will help also), I'd lean towards a 4wd,
It's worth noting I recently got my sedan stuck towing a trailer+car up a gravel driveway and had to get towed out by, and subsequently borrow, a Nissan Terrano For me though I do a lot of open road k's and would much rather drive a car and sacrifice the towing capability for the odd occasion I have something behind it.

Will try and make this one. Not fussed on location, C&B is just around the corner. Ale House is better but further away/still not far.
