  1. looks mint as, the rims suit it hard! got a nice dish on em.

that photo with no springs? 8)

Yeh the colour kinda suits the blue ay but I might havta sell them with the gem.. see what happens

No springs, its just sitting on the guards at the back but once I roll them it should be sweet I think. Cars look stupid if they aren't lowered enough.

  2. Good effort man. I remember looking at this awhile back but haven't seen the updates untill now. I think I speak for afew people when I say its not what I would call my usual cup of tea but you have managed to put it together from an idea you had and made it work, and look great. Thats what oldschool cars are about I reckon, having an idea and trying to do something a little different.

Aswell as that I like the interior, its good to see a change from the all white look, good to see you got your moneys worth. And.. just to finish off, I'm in love with those carbs! They look so good.

Oh, also just thort I'd mention. I met a dude up here whose building one that actually looks similar to this (but not in a copying way I hope). Its got series 4 rx7 (i think) side skirts and he's making his own IRS setup for it and running a 1UZ Lexus v8. I thort that was pretty cool, but some die hard ford fans might get a little angry that he's cross breeding...

  3. The other alternative is the battery could have a dead cell .

then it would start when i jumped it, wouldnt it?

    chur

Not always. The jumper leads charge the battery but often can't flow the kind of current required to actually turn the car over so if the battery is completely stuffed it still won't start. I've only found this with the gay spike-proof jumpers tho.

Just try the screw driver across the starter. If that doesn't start then check earths. If it does start replace solinoid. If that doesn't fix it you have some gay arse electrical problem :? hah

  4. Theres a place in morrinsville, K&H Auto spares I think its called. The dude is a f**kn good c*nt and gives you anything he has for cheap as.

Last year I was sussing out others parts through him and asked if he had vl pumps just in case I needed one. He had quite afew and would part with them for $40!

Dunno if he's still got any but give it a go.

  5. People will probably think this is lame.

But i reckon adapting some pop-up headlights into the front would be cool

Pop-down light covers! They're flush, then when you turn the lights on they lower themselves down sitting flat with the bottom of the headlight scoop. Might stick out at the front a bit but could work...

could maybe adapt starion popups... same sorta shape, sort of. if you squint a bit.

Ahh, no sorry to everyone. Chevettes sell for like $2, buy one and do it! :P

Damn thats a mean wagon you got there! What size rims are they?

cheers, they jus 17s. whats that in your avatar, a capri or what?

  6. There's a place in Taupo, about 1 minute walk from taupo to the bars. I think it was $25 a person or something and that got you a double room with either a double or 2 single beds and a car park in front of the cabins.

We went there with club-k, might pay to ask Callum about more details though...

and sory if its been said, but 7 or 8 pages is way too much to read through for my liking

Damn it, I just spent about 6 minutes watching that double posting stickman thing in dvlrcrs sig. Small things...

Anyway, backpackers have been mentioned earlier and most people prefered the idea of staying at a paddock but that deffinately sounds like a good spot to me. I'm not sure if the whole paddock thing will work out too well.

Cars + Grass + Alcohol + 'Car enthusiasts' always seems to have a way of turning into a bad situation. I know everyones pretty good around here but you know...

  7. ie. if you are being overtaken by a car that is clearly faster then slow down and let them pass.

..is there something faster than a chevette? :P

Im just keen to get out there. Havnt driven a track before and my car isnt the best handler with shit tyres. Would love to find the limits of it and have some fun. iIf this all goes ahead who is actually keen?

In numbers. whoever started topics make a poll maybe?

I'm 100% keen but the chances of me having a car at that time thats worth putting on a track is very slim...I'd say that would probly go for more than just myself.

I think it should just be a matter of getting the venue sorted - we have enough interest already, who ever says "yes, i'm keen" pays up front, right away and we're all happy.

  8. I think they need to hurry up and make all new cars hydrogen and all that shit so that we can save all the oil we have at the moment and be able to drive oldschool cars forever.

I don't want to be all old and putting electric motors in oldschool cars because we don't have gas to run them on.

  9. I think the problem with oldschool trackdays is that everyone has the best intentions of getting their cars going and everything, but as always, things get delayed and put off.

Maybe when submitting your interest for the track day you need to also note what your car needs done to it to be running and what you have planned for it! hah

  10. People will probably think this is lame.

But i reckon adapting some pop-up headlights into the front would be cool

hahaha umm... ok its ugly already I don't wana go and make it worse!

I sorta see how it could work tho... but no! you try it :P

How many gems/vauxs you had now?

4  My friends hassle me... hah

This wasnt the mint as interior one of trademe was it?

And yup, its that same one indeed. Thats what I meant by, 'thanks neil for doing all the hard work,' so now all i have to do is pull out the springs and put wheels on it.. then eventually motor and turbo etc

  11. i think its awesome. It does need to be lightened up a shade where the text is in my opinion. I think the oldschool thing looks cool at the top also, but agree that it should actually be oldschool looking. How about that same thing but maybe stylised like the grill/bonnet chrome of an old vehicle? (if you know what I mean)
