1997 Toyota Caldina stolen last night (7/6) from Mt eden area.

Is a dark blue/green, rego is AGE454.

Fully gutted, will be sporting a smashed window(s) as well.

3 cylinder motor, I got a mechanic cousin to help me time it, cause I didn't wana fuck the valves up.

He left before I put in the new fuel pump, so just trying to eliminate things really.

It was rebuild well, plus even if it was low on compression it would still start? Just run really ruff?

Iv borrowed some CRC carb cleaner and engine start, going to clean plugs tommorow and try on a freshly charged battery.

Timing is right, theres definately fuel getting to the plugs.

I'm thinking I'm gunna nick a bigger battery off my other car and see if that gives it a better spark?

Also, I'm a complete noob with anything mechanical, but the flap on teh carb is just sitting in one spot, not moving when pumping the accelerator, what does this mean?

Hey there, I have a 1989 daihatsu charade that just doesnt want to start.

I blew the head about 6 weeks ago, and throughout the last week and a half have started putting the motor back to pieces.

I replaced the head, and all gaskets, waterpump, cambelt etc etc. And it didnt start up, which was the fuel pump.

New fuel pump in, and it still doesn t want to start.

Im getting spark, fuel is getting to carb, its turning over sweet, but cant get over the last hurdle and start?

Ive had a fiddle with the dizzy, and cleaned all the grounds, to no avail.

Any ideas?

Hey was wondering if anyone was going to Tauranga Pickaprt? There website says they have 4 1lt charades, and iv had trouble finding a new engine for it.

If anyones going there can they check if the engines are still there?

Aha, after some research I found my answer, different turbo (RHB51) but now i just have to find either!

Does anybody know if the manifold from Daihatsu Charade 1.0lt carb turbo motor (CB50/60 motor) is the same as the GTTI 1.0lt exhaust manifold (cb70/80 motor)??????

Also, does anybody know if they use the same RHB32 turbo???

Anybody know of any cheapish daihatsu wreckers around the place? Or alternatively, does anybody know people with spare partslying around? I have an 89 charade 1lt carb, which im pretty keen to turbo. Some came turbo'd standard with the same engine, Iv found a few pieces for it but need all the help I can get. Cheers

Its fucking reliable as and hasn't given me any trouble, and I've never been pulled up in it(touch wood.) Plus it was a fat summer cruiser. But the novelty has worn off. And Im not guna go hard on the R 30. If I spend money on an oldschool car itll be a kp starlet fo sho

Shit I dont know, it just says its a ca18. Ive seen the same motor(maybe injected), standard in a C33 laurel as well

After months of owning my new car i saw an og R30 on trademe for a real good price and snapped it up straight away. Its an 83 R30 with a ca18e carbed motor and 5 speed manual. All pretty good nicked with a brand new clean sheet VTNZ wof! Ive never seen a car go straight through, let alone a dunga old skyline!

No massive plans just a few small things, iv gloss blacked the bickies, and they look reasonably tight. Just needs some cuts and shortened shocks. Maybe 25% tints. Thats bout it. Ive sussed some cefiro 15s on 205/50s if i get bored of bickies but for now its all gravy.
