You dont think so?
Whole sill?
I told the guy making it only front 300mm rotten and he said just replace the front 500mm.... hrmm,, I'm going out with a 3m disc now to strip back the sill to make sure no hidden rust.

From memory I actually finished the last Cortina as much as I had planned.
Just sent rims off to be widened.

Cheers ears.
Old man has a spare zetec + rwd parts sitting in shed but I think he is planning to use in one of his austinS.
I do have a 1600 711 block plus most parts to rebuild. Was just going to focus on getting current car on road for now as I always seem to get carried away. A Supercharged 1600 kent running thru column shift with itb and a megasquirt does float my boat though.

Brought another car cause I wanna be like Seedy.
Wanted one since I was 18 but they never seem to pop up for sale.. this one did so I buyed it.
She is a lil bit rusty, mainly the passenger front outrigger and sill.
Shes a lil bit ratty, which aint going to change
Shes a lil bit been sitting for 10 years, but drivable now
I picked it up from Tga a month ago and it sat at the old mans until last weekend when I got a mate to bring it down. The paints a bit rough and a few dents by one guard but its actually relativly straight for its age.
I've replaced the master cyl and bleed brakes up and also clutch.. having trouble finding the old 8" lockheed rear cylinders and pads for the drums so might change to escort 8" backing plates which mean the parts are easy to source.
Managed to get the 1500 engine going with a bit of a carb clean, blow out old petrol, and replace engine earths, Shes still a bit rough but drivable. Actually drives pretty good considering its sat 10years!
Plans are basically to get legal, slam and put some widened steels on. Not wanting a huge project at this stage as I have the rx2 to get back into at some stage, just wanting something OS to enjoy for now. Ive brought the steels just gotta figure out how much to widen to and if I needa change offset or not. I already had a set of 185 55 14s so that made the choice to goto 14s easy.
Anyways, pics.

Whoever Bateman uses to make his rims can polish lips so must be worth a shot. Was bout $30 per lip from memory.
Not sure Zinc and Chrome will do it, they more do finishing but let us know if they can.

I use Dinitrrol as do a lot of panel places. Sand back rust, brush it on, leave 12 hours, it goes black, then paint over.
I buy it from Resene Industrial and Automotive by Bunnings in Hutt. Total Body should have it too.
How much area you doing? Just come grab mine.

K got them wheels above.... Anyone know what they are off? They have a squareish shaped centre hole which is weird... (not fully square but also not round.)

What u think u see?
Pretty hard to pik but I'm saying flat top.

Oh yeah. Gbox is the same for de and det. Clutch I would assume to be different bit not sure.
I think to be sure you need to rip the head off and cc it... or rip pistons out and find part number. doesn't seem to be any other way to 100% confirm.
You would want to run arp head bolts anyway as this is the weak point of the ca when boost increased.

Internet says 2 Diff things re compression which doesnt help.
a. Rods are what set compression
b. Pistons set compression
Could potentially look up piston part numbers for de and det and if different then that's ya answer.
I did have a link to a site listing al de vs det part numbers, it's a dead link now tho.
You know the other differences but for note:
- crank girdle (some de still had them)
- oil squiretrs (some dets didn't have em)
- compression ratio
- de has beeter inlet cam profile
- sump had turbo return feed on det
- both have turbo oil feed on block but de has blank bolt
- de no water feed in block for turbo
- Diff size + impedance injectors
- 3 wire sensor

You'll be lucky Mark. Waiting for bonus to come through and might get someone to start panel work on 2..... maybe. Undecided atm.
I did consider changing Cortina stud pattern so I could put my Equips on the Cortina.
