acid rain ford colour is mint for old cars. I was gonna paint mine that colour. I dont really like the bright colours people tend to paint escorts 'no offence anyone'

Silver is always dope. black will bring up any even small dents defects or whatever.

The way i have done mine is, Looking in from standing back.

Sub in custom (many angled) box right rear. (in the back corner facing diagnoly accross boot. Made a fake shelf on the hump and have the amp mounted on that.

anyone else in a mk1.

port it for low bass but will not be as punchy. dont port it for punch bass. As is the size of box. bigger will be lower deep bass. smaller will be punchy.

people usually port 15s.

i thnk usually leave 12's

maybe port a 10 if you want it to go a bit deeper as they are a punchy sub.

i dont personaly like Sony. they are going to cheap stuff now. Pioneer is the best mid ranged stuff and id say the best for headunits.

Mate just brought some sound stream turanchalia 6inch components that sound fukn mean, but then they should for $699, he also brought a set of 6inch rockford fosgate splits for the back, they have nice bass and sound crisp too. nothing like the soundstream tho.

I think sounds is purely what money you spend.

Mind you. He also got a pioneer head unit from trade me. brand new paralel import 1 year warenty for $300. It is about mid model retails $699 repco. When we asked mad sounds if they could beat that deal while purchasing the other stuff they wouldnt believe us. they even made a phone call to see if anyone could be getting it in for that price. They then proceeded to tell us we had the wrong model number or the stuff was not legit. in the end we had to just agree with them as it was turning into a small argument.

I have a 12inch reactor sub in my runaround car. It is powered by an amp i had spare. its 80watts RMS so maybe 150RMS bridged. It goes quite good. I wouldnt go mocking reactor till youve first hand heard it. I used to, then mate gave me this sub, Anyone that gets in my car is always amased when i say its a reactor.

It hits those low notes. They dont like very puncy music for a 12 tho. Mind you trying to compare differant sounds in differant boxes in differant cars with differant amps is imposible so its all personal choice.

But i must say my Polk Audio 12dx goes very well and its in a tiny box .54cf from memory.

nah 17s look stupid on mk1's, my opinion, maybe 16's. 17on mk2s all good.

What hapens with the shop that i got my mags of is they have all the wheels in the shops. They do not own the mags untill they put tyres on them(because they canot return them after this as it is "used"). With most mags they will be willing to try them on your car with tyres because they dont have a uncomman stud pattern 4x108 and know that they can sell them still. If they put a tyre on a 4x108 mag then you decide you dont want it they have no choice but to keep the set and try to sell them. And how many people do u thnk want 4x108 mags. answer = S**T all.

May depend on shop to shop but that was what 3 tyre places in vegas told me when i was looking.

most of the euro cars have 4x108. new mondeos etc will. they have some alright mags. some of the rotary wheels will fit onto an escort depending on the center hole if it will fit over or not. usually the esky ones dont fit the rx's tho.

Mak Sting make 4x108 17s. Also TSW Apex will do a 4x108 17. apex is my choice or if your really after the big guys go simmons they also will do any stud pattern.

But escorts have small gaurds. I have apex on mine 15s thewy look big enuff. With 195 45 15 they scrape hard out. I would aay wiuth 205 17s you would need to mini tub it or forest flares if lowered. In the front of mine the gaurds got bitten and torn from the wheel grabbinbg the side on lock. (thanks gordy for panel and paint) This is all pulled out gaurds too. I would seriously thnk bout it first. and try them on. Problem is if you buy new as soon as they put tyres on the wheels you have to buy them as they canot sell to anyone else fats enuff.

Hey guys, Posted my hellos in the wrong place so here it is again.

Name is Gazza im from Rotorua but soon moving to Welly.

Have a 69Mk1 escort, a Vauxhall Chevette and a Laser.

Escort: The engine in it now is a standard Pinto out of a Sierra with a 5 speed box and 1300 diff. The engine which i am curently building is also a sierra but with a few mods. Rebuilt bottom end new pistons rings etc. Most of the work is in the head. 1600 head flowed to 190cft. double valve springs, Kelford cam, larger valves the norm. Have a fuel injection unit of a 2l mazda that will be bolted up running a Delco computer and tuned by me hopefully!!! Should put out round 170-180 hp. Have found an early Hilux diff to bolt in, now just after the LSD head for it.

Suspension is sorted with custom adjustables front. blocks rear soon to be flattened leaves. Austin princess 4 pot calipers to be modified. (any info on this would be awsome)

Honda civic SIR buckets front and rear, waiting on some carpet to be made up when i have some more doe. Got 5 Smiths matching gauges which should look nice when i get round to finishing retrim. And resprayed dash hoodlining and panels to black.

Vauxhall is sacked out on 16inch dished chromies and a pioneer sounds setup. Laser is just a run around but still has a pioneer setup with a Reactor subbie . haha.
