  1. They handle the power ok if you are kind to them. Will require mounts changed over to suit Leaf spring setup in KE30. No readily available LSD options for S diffs.

    Personally I'd probably go E series from a townace/liteace over S series.

  2. Know of 2 other NZ new AE86 in similar condition that sold for $17k & $19K over the last few years, so probably not that unrealistic. Still considerably cheaper than the prices they are now asking for original or fully restored examples in Japan.

  3. Not the same car.

The notchback on trademe was built up from a standard AE85 shell, started around 2006. There was a build thread floating around on Garage Dori forums for awhile, but that seems to have been lost last time the forum shutdown.

  4. Are you concerned about maintaining correct speedo reading? That may impact on your decision. My tyre choice for that size wheels would be 175/60R14, 185/55R14, or 185/60R14 depending on the application. The brand & style of the tyre will also make a difference, generally speaking cheap nasty tyres have a cheap nasty looking sidewall with rounded edges. Linglong 185/55R14s are actually physically bigger than my Falken 185/60R14s.

  5. Yeah normally have issues with this because the cold start is stuffed on most 4AGEs now days, and also the ECU will not go into diagnostics mode if there are other faults present. If dizzy has been out it is also common to install them a couple of teeth out, easier to line up with exhaust side cam cover removed.

Easy way to do it is just let the engine warm up to normal temp, don't bridge diagnostics and set timing to 16 degrees with idle around 850-900rpm

I've come across a few that i couldn't time to the marks, but still ran without issue. In that case just set timing by Ear & how it revs. Sometimes caused by incorrect dizzy being installed, for bluetop there are a few different types, not sure on later models.

  6. much cleaner with the mouldings, love your work!

Thanks! Been following your build on AEU86, really like what you're doing with your Sprinters.

saw the notch yesterday, was looking real good and so clean.

Thanks Callum, your Starlet was the best looking car out there drifting by a long shot
