in need of a quick answer...
i dont have much time at the moment to read all this...
ive been offered a sweet little project but its deregd..
its a 72 datto..
what do i need to do to get it on the rd and what will it cost?
oh and do you get a cert before or after?
cheers
Take it through for the Re-Vin process first, they will assign your vehicle with a Vin number, Pass or Fail.
They will then proceed to fail your car on needing Modifications Certified.
Then you can take the car for a cert. Your cert plate needs to have a Vin number aligned with it, not neccessarily a Rego number.
Once you have the cert plate you can finish the Re-Vin Inspection process & apply for registration.

AE85 or AE70 is A series K50, all the internals are interchangable with K series K50. When i destroyed 2nd in one of my AE85s, i scored a freebie K40 from KP60 & swapped the damaged bits over
So did this transform your K50 into a 4 speed or were you able to retain 5th? I've heard elsewhere you could rebuild A-series K40/50's with parts from K-series ones, it's nice to have this confirmed
No K50 was still a K50, I just removed the damaged 2nd gear off the mainshaft the K50 & replaced with the gear from the K40. Was pretty simple really

There was a wrecker down Oamaru, Autoland Dismantlers, they had a couple of RT84's. Could be worth a look for parts, altough it was a couple of years ago that I was last there.
Seems like the 6R is one of the harder to find motors around, I didn't have much luck when i was looking for a spare, turned up plenty of 12R bits

Looks very similar to the Red on my old Carina,

There's a crowd called 'Captain Transporter' if i remember correct they around $700 without insurance, or $760 Insured

I got one from Autodec a couple of weeks ago, looked & fit great
-
My daily drive Hilux, 3RZ + t3/t4 = 217rwkw@13psi

Try Autodec for carpets, just got a set for my Corona, it's good quality & not badly priced

KE70 Wagon Shocks for the rear, in the front you can use 4WD Carib front inserts (can't think of chassis right now), same body size, but 30mm shorter stroke. Or if you want to put a spacer in shock tube, then ST185 GT4 Inserts or AE92 Levin are much shorter.
Photo below is all captive with 3 or 3&1/2 coils removed all round, ke70 rear shock, carib front

Just cranked out a couple now. Turned out Average-Good. Text me if you wanna grab them

It will be Toughened glass then, which yeah you can't drill it will just explode if you try.
Is the window flat? if so just draw round it onto a bit of cardboard and mark where you want the holes (you will need to be pretty dead on) and take it to pretty much any glass place and they can send that cardboard pattern off to get toughened so you'll end up with a nice new window with the holes you want and it will have required safety stamps on it for the wof man
Its legal for us to cut holes in vans and put windows in so i don't see why you can do the reverse of that
-
Is it a factory side glass? if so it will most likely be Toughened but yes it will have a stamp on it.
What is that you are actually trying to do, i'm a auto glazier by trade i may be be able to offer some help
-
What kind of glass is it? as you can't drill Laminated or Toughened glass

I had a King Spring in my corolla snap in half from hitting a medium size pot hole. Never used or recommended them to anyone since
-
Also Palmside Motorsport in Hoon Hay Rd would be worth a shot
-
They have a number of options available, 2 or 3 different offsets to choose for each width
-
Thats the BC gear, it's a copy of the Greddy Design, except that the Greddy one's have a new Spindle incorporated into front, so no chopping or welding required.
-
They are priced by size, 13x6 is around $300 (US) per wheel, up to 15x9 which are about $450 (US) per wheel.
Then you gotta add on freight & possibly import taxes?
This is for brand new obviously
-
i got a set 14x6 for sale, same offset. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=145427783
Send me a pm if you wanna come try them on & we could work out a deal

Nah it sounds like the shocks are at the maximum extension and are preloading the springs making the ride very hard. When the car hits every bump the shocks max out steel on steel causing the harsh bang.
Yep you're right on the money there, i put the shocks in it, they're DX wagon shocks & are about 100mm shorter than what standard starlet shocks are. Was real mint when i had it on cutties, but i believe it now has standard springs back in it, & because thy're too long for the shocks they're basically holding them at full extension constantly
Put it back on cutties, they were all captive with those shocks, looked way better too

Every Certifier sets their own price. But they average around 350 - 400 mark

I rang him and as predicted he is unkeen to sell (even though he has four brand new ones)

-

How so? Incredibly easy to import, same as any other pre 89 car.
