  2. cheers all for coming along.  was a scorcher of a day.   Still a good 45+ turnout even with my usual lack of advertising.

So far there's some pics up on the facebook page by driven photography.

please post up if you took some or email me so i can host.

and just a heads up, I'll be organising another meet around early April.

  3. The original idea came about from the japanese new year classic car meets as a first meet of the year (and our sunny season).  feb/march is pretty choca with car events already so instead of adding another to an already busy period, I was hoping to have it as early as possible.  But too many people complained that 1st and 2nd weekends of Jan they weren't back from holidays..    4th week is usually rotor nats which is a major clash.  and yeah people that come up for BDO or kumeu can hit two birds.

So it's pretty much staying 3rd week of Jan from now unless other events move dates.

  4. Sunday 19th jan locked in.  11am on

outside The Ferguson bar.  the tiered carpark on university ave.  Massey Albany campus.

can cruise from westgate BK carpark or greenlane McD's, meet there 10.15am and leave 10.40am ish.

If anyone definitely be at these meet points and wish to leave a contact number for people getting lost, please do so.

Please tell your friends and invite like minded peeps on FB.

    cheers

  6. yeah the tooling is expensive.  could produce a trumpet for like $1 ea.  but when the cost of tooling is added in,  be looking at retail price round $8-10ea.  still hell of a lot cheaper than any metal equivalent.

    wont be this year bobdylan

  7. Looking for a CAD file for blacktop ITB trumpet flanges. Ive found one that makes all 4 out of 1 piece but i want to make 4 seperate ones

I've got these drawn up.  even an injection mould tool to make straight trumpets in different lengths using neoprene (like the BT trumpets) and various other flanges like dcoe.  future project :)

  8. I have an old molnar mk2 2post hoist which says in specs 100mm minimum slab.  not clear floor tho, so loading more spread out.

3 phase definitely handy in the shed.  most larger machinery use it.  If wired up already, then more options when buying machinery.  2nd hand 3phase welders are often cheaper too.

  9. looks 8 bolt.   4-pinion e7 wagon diff very likely S series 6.38".   come in ke72, ke74 and ce71.  same head as ae85.

I'd suggest F series for your requirements. should handle 300 horsies easy enough. nothing easy bolt in sadly.

best fit is T13#  corona or a4# celica.  got one myself in ke70 coupe.  its same spec as usa ma46 mk1 supra rear.  4x114.3 factory solid 9" disk brake and 5-10mm total wider than ae86/te71 rear.  see club4ag.com forum for how to convert it to e86/e7 chassis.  can find em in NZ, in jdm tt132 18rgeu 2000GT corona or ra45 GT celica.  but rare things!

CR30 series liteace 4wd or masterace surf 4wd have F diff but drum brake only, some with std lsd.  5stud can be redrilled.  one at zebra parts currently with mangled drum and no head.

Estima is widest F series you can get but most common to find.  1545mm drum-to-drum vs 1410 for E7 rolla.  5x114.3.  disk versions easy to find at PAP.  big 11"? vented disk with drum handbrake.  they heavy mongrels and drum versions are hilux size drum. head's are chunkier than other F series.

Crown ms110/112 have disk F series, drum handbrake.  5x114.3 stud. 1450mm wide.  wack handbrake cable system though.

E series 7.1" has same axle diameter as kouki (post 1985 ish) T series so no improvement really.  and cannot get lsd for one either.  4x114/3. common as in 2wd liteace.

    identifying toyota diffs...

    sick of typing

  10. Ned, have you been pinged on the rad mount thing?  I think you'd have to quote the lvv doc to prove your point..  I believe Dan is a qualified wof inspector.

seller may have meant 'rear', ie rear wheel drive setup?

    Re this franken4age.  I see..

    Cam covers "redtop bigport"

Intake manifold from bluetop rwd (ae86/aa63/at141)

Water system is not the usual rwd 4age.  it could be rwd 3au or 4ac?   the rwd 4age top radiator outlet usually curves forward whereas yours is straight.  should be able to identify by comparing pics (google 4age thermostat).  4age thermostat has the recirc pipe straight up into the rad outlet pipe whereas 3a/4a sohc recirc pipe comes out of thermostat at an angle.  Water pump pulley looks to be rwd. (can swap on a fwd water pump if also with fwd pulley).  compare google images of water pump to identify it.  the ridge that runs around the front of housing is different depending on the version of engine it fitted to.

Crank pulley is either bluetop or gze depending on diameter of the larger pulley.  4agze is around 150mm diameter?

Where is the water temp sensor?  the red plate thing on back of the head is not factory and water temp sensor (green plug) usually screws in there.

Alternator mount on L/H *passenger* side, but without p/s or aircon mount i believe is a variant of aw11 4agze.  rare and hard to find.  Or is that a modified bracket?

Ways to tell a gze block:  compression test it.  early gze have 8:1 compression, so compression test will show that and compare it to the workshop manual specs.  later ae101 smallport gze block is 8.9:1 which will have the external oil drain from head at the rear on intake side.   4agze i believe do not have the knock sensor between #2 and 3 cylinder.  instead it between 3 & 4.
