  1. massive turnout! :D

i was racing the black KE70 corolla running consistant 14.7 which saw off a cyborg and bretts 4agte ke30 which blew the box, then a last run of 14.61 against the 13bt 120y but i got dicked. entered da burnouts too if anyone stayed that late :) fun

    nice to see a couple other ke70's, ke30, mark's ta22, the datto's n eski's out there

  2. did mine in a couple days.. just a quicky coz it looked like shit multi coloured.

gave it a good scrub then scotched it with jif which adds to the abrasive.. or 400grit paper. washed n dried it off. leave overnight. masked up what doesnt need painting. made sure garage is free of dust.. i vacuum the concrete coz sweeping only stirs it up. just before painting wipe it down with 'wax and grease remover'. this gets rid of anything not sanded or paint wont stick too well. need heaps of light so see what ya painting. need good ventilation or respirators or you'll be feeling pretty warm n buzzy. im no painter not by a long shot but anywho... some tips.. start off with a very light puff coat or a few depending if you think the original paint will react too much.. (starting with a full wet coat on old paint or primer tends to cause crazy cracks n stuff as it desolves the original paint i think). start light and then lay it on thicker and thicker with each coat finishing with a full wet coat. this was with matt black heh.

  3. yeah me mates one is sitting in my garage. ke30 4age. was built by someone in invercargill and made its way up here.. we swapped in an ae82 4age after original 4age died, kept all the fwd bits on it too cept intake and exhaust manifs.. mounted remote thermostat under intake and added a spigot bearing and put on t50 etc

some info here.. i can answer Q's if needed.

    http://www.toycrazy.net/gallery/corolla/jd/jdke30.htm

i've also stripped a 35 4age conversion and put it in my ke25 SR coupe which is tighter fit than a 35. see my website link

  4. think 1060kg for the TT142 Corona GT-T

a std 3tgte in a ke70 with pod and exhaust will pull a flat 15sec 1/4. not bad if you ask me! then add i/c, bov, tuning and boost!

as to the pushrod 3t.. i wouldnt be expecting much from a std one... do need a cam and few bits to get up going. check out http://www.toyota3tc.com for better info on these. plenty info on the forums!

the block and cranks are bulletproof. sub 10sec starlets in the states/peurto rico etc are proof!

what box was in the corona? the 3t will have either a T50 alloy split case box or the steel case W40 or W50 which are stronger. the t50 will go in easily. 20spline driveshaft from the ke35 will fit it too unless its an '83+ T50 which are 22 spline. w50 need mods to gearbox crossmember and mod driveshaft. will have to cut the tunnel rearwards a lil to clear the shifter unless its the real early t50. shouldnt have any steering clearance problems if mounted in correct spot.. 2t came factory in the te31, te37 and te38 in the states and japan. (could do a search). will need mods to engine mounts to fit it to the k series engine crossmember.

anything efi will cost heaps more for the conversion (4age 3tgte)

ask nvmy30 on club-k for opinion, i believe he drives round in a 3t powered ke30.

f1erce: putting 3t crank, rods and pistons in a 2t block is still only going to be a 3t (1770cc). (block are pretty much same thing). need to bore it up to 89mm and use oversize aftermarket pistons for 2ltr

  5. fat tyres are such a kiwi thing, but handle like crap.. try some sideways action on em and they sloppy as. stretched is so oldskool jdm and i love it but not to the extreme as some them japs do

also tyres with sidewall protection like the old dunlop fm901's give em that extra stretched look without actually stretching as much. 185's on a 7" rim is good enough for me. im running 195's on 15x7 and still looks a lil stretched

  6. could you have flooded it? maybe pull plugs and make sure they arent wet or fouled.

    why not fix starter?

3 things you need are compression, spark and fuel

if theres a wire coming off the carb make sure it has 12v going to it as it's a fuel cut solenoid.

  7. heh  now now guys

thanks for the offer, what kinda prices you lookin at selling the sc12 setup for?

mongol: the smallport 4age has totally different head port size and 4 runner intake rather than the bluetop ~ red/blacktop TVIS 8 runner intake

like my original post said.. ive decided either a carbd 2tg or carbd 4ag for the wagon since its my current daily driver. theres heaps of really good options available with turbo'd 4agze etc and i have a very good knowledge of the 4age differences thanks, but this car is only really a bum around hack to cruise to events, haul parts from da wrecker and drive to work in. no point in some crazy arsed turbo fandangled ball tearing head snapping whiz bang fart popping techo 4pot in there.

i have a 4age'd (n/a efi) ke25 which runs consistant 15.7sec 1/4, std engine with pod and exhaust, single spinner etc. a friend tup in his std 2tg powered ke20 with lsd does low 16's. so the 4ag has a half second advantage. power/weight gains aside (coz im not really interested in that)... im more interested in the thoughts of others whether a 2tg transplant would be cooler than the 4ag? it's still going to go well enough for cruising round in. the 3.3 ratio diff's not going to help any races.

the 2tg will be an easier conversion but the 4ag has more power so im neutral on which one. i'll have to make a carby intake manif for the 4ag anyways. im not going to turbo it since i have two other boosted projects. cars are fun :D too many hurts the pocket :?

and yes like callum said, turbo 2tgeu is a bolt up and i have all the parts available. 4ag requires oil feeds, custom exhaust manif's and all that.

interestingly im about to pull the 3tgte out of the ke70 (which i'd just replaced a couple weeks ago) to put a 2tgeu in for a wof. the neato part is i gonna see if it'll run on the 3tgte wiring and ecu with the 2tgeu injectors to make up for the reduced stroke of the 2tgeu. and for the hell of it since i'd have to change the exhaust to fit the 2tgeu n/a manifold, thinkin to whack a spare 3tgt manifold on it with a turbo and see if i can get away running with the wastegate disconnected and no compressor side plumbed up for wof. probly unlikely but worth a shot, but with the all the heat sheilds on it the turbo's pretty well hidden. then bodge up a front mount i/c for some low boost fun heh. well till i can be bothered chucking the 3tgte back in.

oh and my last 3tgte was blowing up oil filters.. can only think theres an oil gallery blockage somewhere

    keep the ideas coming! cheers

  8. mmkay.. not asking whats better so all things aside reguarding the conversion, power outputs and parts availability etc as i have both available and know the pro's and con's.

the question is, what would be more appealing in an old rolla?

the oldschool power of 2tg or the newer 16v 4ag?

(if 'appealing' is the correct word)

in a ke26 wagon to be precise

    to those not into toyotas...

2tg is a 1600 8v twincam with factory 40mm solex/mikuni's that were fitted to jdm te27 levins/trueno's back in 72-73, and other GT spec toys like the ta22 celica and ta12 carina.

4ag is a 1600 16v twincam efi out of an ae86, the last of the rwd corolla's, but would convert to running sideys like the 2tg, or some quad throttles on efi which'll take more work to get running obviously

    whats ya thinks?

  9. thats william's ke70 DX from palmy running a 1800 turbo 3tgte with std ecu, w55 and std ke70 diff locked up hehheh. (well at round 2 anyways, didnt catch up at round 3)

he's f'n mad drifter tho, was doing some crazy fishtails up the puke straights and drifting round john deer corner onto front straight and thats bumpy as round there. wont be long till he's in top 16 :)

  11. k sweet as

ive just picked up a 15/16 alloy master cylinder from an st206 celica which bolts up to the te71 booster so that should hopefully harden the pedal after i fitted 10" disks all round.. im eyeing up some gx81 11" struts at da mo so that master should be the shiz :D hmm that was random

  12. that first golf (?) is cool! perfect front wheel offset.. rear i little wide.

well heres some my favourites :D

hmm might have to edit file size if it's a problem?

  13. from factory specs a 5k have more torque.. not power. which is better for acceleration in normal rpm range. so yeah a 5k would be a nice upgrade. i believe 3k-b has the most factory power.

no 3k-b are not the only big port! alot of ke20 3k have a single carb bigport head. my factory 3k-b ('75 ke25) is a smallport twin carb... many variations aye.

also swapping heads round willy nilly can bugger things up. there're many differences in the chamber design and piston dish. sometimes ya can end up with 13:1 compression or something stupidly low. later jdm 4k like after '83 have a twin squish head and dished pistons.. early ones have flat pistons and more cc in the head chamber... different pushrod heights.. yada ya. unless you know what ur doing.. then better off skimming the std head or getting a thinner gasket etc to up compression and maybe do some mild porting to get er flowing.

imo first thing after a tune up (plugs, fluids, filters, cap, rotor, points, timing, blah, is replace the peeshooter exhaust with 1.3/4 - 2". put a foam or oiled filter on it and some cold air ducting from the front wouldnt hurt. electric fan. cams and heavier valve springs make some good gains after exhaust and intake done. and yeah raise compression. can upgrade carb to something slightly bigger. could lighten flywheel for some better acceleration.... the usual shit. speed cost money, how fast you wanna go?

  14. ya need to upload the pic onto the web somewhere then in your profile put it in your avatar link

ke2# rolla's have 4x110 studs unless its already been changed. there are some hotties with this stud pattern but it more common to find 4x114.3. rwd starlet 4x114 hubs are a bolt in swap but need keep original ke2 disk. ke3/ke7 hubs have larger inner bearing so need to have that bearing instead of original. inner seal may not fit on some.

need to unbolt and smack the disk off to be able to pull studs out on the rolla's :?

weird bout the hotties tho.. i had no probs fitting the 13x7 size?
