my old man had a black hunter, real bogan style, jacked in the rear, dropped in the front, massive twin carbs, tridents and shit. i thought it was cool, cos i always got to work on it with him... later realised we had to keep working on it just to keep the p.o.s going....

soold that and bought a cf beddy van, i was gutted, it was a pig, rust everywhere, no seats and shit.. turned out he only bought it cos it had a fully rebuilt motor.

then bought a chevetter... ahhh, now we see why he got the rapist van swapped sumps, rocker covers over and sfa else and the 2.3 bolted straight into the chevetter. that thing was loose as, well, a loose thing.

sold it after a couple of years and bought a mk2 four door, had a lumpy as 1600, capri struts and stuff. easily the mintest 'old' car he had, it was just really well built. but he sold after about 3 months, got made an offer he couldnt refuse.

then it was just crap, ewww, thats right, he even had an austin princess thing, fuck that thing was rank. then it was all jap stuff with the odd falcon and commodore thrown in.

then just before he died he bought an absolutly mint 1275 gt mini. its tucked away in storage, i might pull it out in a few years and do it up, but meh.

i heard of a guy, bought one for like 4k, drove it for amonth and it grenaded, he being the dick that is just gave it to a garage and said fix it. 7k bill... and it lasted about 3 months before it grenaded again, this time it did it properly. two rods through the block. and nah, he was running near factory boost. (ie 9-10psi) now he hates them.

id be careful doing the camber thing, whenever you start to camber shit, youll need new tires sooner. something you mite not wana be forking out for considering youve got low-pro 17's.

you can get the gaurds professionally rolled, people come to your house, put thing on wheel hub and does it, shouldnt crack paint unless your hardout stretching it.

Easy way to tell. Put it on trademe with a stupid high reserve. Get some people coming round to look at it and they will offer money. after about 5 offers youll know what its worth

i know a guy that bout a bugeye 323, and all the bits required for a rx conversion, and he paid $7500. was he ripped? fuck yes. is he happy? yup. its nearly done, i dont think it owes him 10k yet, and the way prices are going he probably wont lose money on it.

but he was lucky, everything in the deal was as advertised. not one bad bit. well, other than the price lol.
