  1. Cheers man, it's getting a 1600 back in it with a bit of work done to it. Once the cars painted then the next step is dropping this in and getting it running, battery will be mounted in the boot at the same time and engine bay tidied up (Deloomed, alloy radiator with nice hoses etc). Will be swapping those dellortos out for from recon'd webers as well.

  2. More Guard Modification

One side of the car is done and in primer. Next up is the other side, then the front air-dam. Once those are on then it can finally get painted and get the sports striping on it.

Made the right decision by going with the 55ml wide flares, wheels will fit perfectly in there. Should look great once its sitting down at the right height.

  3. These were on my car when I got it, pretty sure they are a +40 offset. They're 16x7's with 205/40s and didn't really rub on the guards. Looks pretty gay, but handled fine.

These are what I have now, and are a -4 offset (15x8) with 225/50s, They rub on the front and back without guard modification. Should look awesome, but haven't driven it yet so unsure how it will feel.

    Not sure if that helps

  4. Rear Guard Modification

Starting to modify the rear guards so there's plenty of room for the wheels with it sitting nice and low, and also allowing the flares to be molded on to the body properly.

Uncovered a bit of rust that had been bogged up prior to the paint a year or so ago.. a little bit concerning but can't do much now.

  5. Anyone got any method to check the chassi damage, crash?

Look under the front guards and see if you can see any signs of repair in there. Seen on a couple of old cars now with whole new fronts welded on and less time is spent tidying things up under there so can often see evidence of repair. Also as mentioned, check around with a magnet.

Also look if the cross member / engine mounts look straight. If its had a big knock in the front then these could be a little twisted and often overlooked in a repair.

  6. really, such as?

Really hard to see out the back when reversing, especially when you are short. Might not sound like much of a problem but mum has heaps of trouble parking hers in town. That's the Mazda 6 sedan.

I find it pretty underpowered also. Think its the 2.3 sport model or something (non MPS). Handles nicely but the leather seats are super slippery and non bucketed so you slide all over the place when you throw it into a corner.

    Annoying quirks +1

  7. Haha yea I think it is a Hyobung, that's not mine though.

The wheels don't really fit without the flares. Had to cut some of the front guard away so they wouldn't rub (more than in those photos) and it just didn't look quite right, ruined the lines. The back guards were also going to need some serious pumping and even then I wouldn't have been able to get it quite as low as I want it. Kinda wanted to avoid them, but I think I've made a good compromise by going with some pretty small flares. Once they are molded to the body and painted I'm hoping it will look more subtle.
