Checking Front Ride Height
Making sure the front wheels wont rub with it sitting a more respectable ride height. Back wheels will be sitting slightly further under the guard, and lower.

My '75 Mk2 Escort never had them in the back and was never a WOF issue

Apparently a whole lot of research has gone into when its best to start advertising this kind of thing. If you start early then people start doing it early, if you start late then people don't know about it.
I think there will be a big campaign starting 8-10 days out.

Yea I got one bro

Sounds good!

Na man, another guy aye.
Yours has definitely come along way in 12 weeks! Looks great, It's taken me years to get to where mine is now
I won't be at nats this year, the car won't be on the road before then unfortunately. Should be ready for next year though, would be cool to check yours out and get a few on the track together.

Hey bro, yep a mate of mine in Welly has the yellow shell now. I think it's gonna be in storage for quite some time until he starts on it though. Looks like you've done a lot on yours too man, very nice!

Cheers bro, it's getting there!

Engine Bay & Guards Painted + Stripe Kit Applied
Engine bay and guards are all painted up and the stripe kit is on. Just need to finish under sealing the whole car, then paint for the bumpers, handles, around the windows etc. Some new rubbers might be in order to really set it off as well. Should look nice ones its sitting at the right height

Haven't done it yet, waiting for the painting to finish then I can mount it up and figure out exactly how much to shorten it by. Will get pics up when I get there.
-
Should be done at the painters in the next week or so, then we can drop the engine and box in. Realistically sometime in the next few months and I'll be happy!

Upgrading to a Sierra gearbox and using the Sierra clutch etc is a pretty cheap and easy upgrade and then you get the bonus of a 5th gear as well.

Looking good man

I spent a while trying to find a 225/45/15 for my esky but couldn't find much apart from the Toyo's which were pretty expensive. Ended up going for a 225/50 Kumho which were quite a bit cheaper. If you're matching the front then you prob don't want to up the profile though. Interested in hearing what you find.

This looks alright at first glance, worth putting on your watchlist so you'll know the market value anyway as its $1 res.
If you can get a 2 door in your price range then I'd go for that as they'll always hold more value IMO.

Hey bro's, just got this new daily and it has this random black stuff over the corner lights and indicators. They still seem to work fine through it. Just wondering if its legal for a WOF or if I should try and get it off before I take it through?
-
I think having a sticker on your window more than 10cm from the edge can cause you to fail a WOF, not to mention having tints over a certain %, so would say sheet steel would be a certain fail?
Don't know about having no window at all though?

looking at this expired ebay listing:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-ANGLIA-PREFECT-TIE-ROD-END-/220846781525
These vehicles all have the same (though the others are probably rarer than your 105)
-Ford Anglia/Prefect 100E. Popular. 1953-62.
-Prefect 107E 1959-61.
-Anglia 105E 106E 1959-67.
-Prefect 107E 1959-61.
-Anglia estate 105E 1961-67
That listing went for 5 pounds and says they ship internationally so you might find some other cheap ones on there if you poke around though.

There's one on TradeMe for $300 but that seems pretty excessive.
How about $100 with the manifold if you can find someone to take it up for you and if its not the carby just send it back down?
-
If it is the carby, I have a 32/36 Weber on the manifold for sale. Just pulled it off the engine working fine.
You're welcome to try it out and see if that's the prob if you can get someone to take it up from Welly.

http://www.consumer.org.nz/reports/car-buyers-rights
Paragraph in there that might be helpful. Having a WOF more than a month old when selling a car has something to do with it.
If you buy privately, you're not nearly so well protected. The Consumer Guarantees Act and Fair Trading Act don't apply, although in some circumstances the Contractual Remedies Act does apply. If a private seller misleads you about the car, you can take them to a Disputes Tribunal.Better information here:
http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/factsheets/41/buying-and-selling.html
Basically says if the WOF is over a month old the car must be advertised AIWI (Near the bottom of the page).
Buyers can insist on a WoF being less than one month old. This helps protect them if faults have developed in the vehicle since the last WoF check. If the buyer doesn't insist on this, they should give the seller a written undertaking that the vehicle won't be used on the road except for taking it for a new warrant of fitness inspection. This protects the seller – it confirms that the buyer is aware that the current WoF is older than one month.
Vehicles without a current WoF must be advertised for sale 'as is, where is'.
Doesn't make it clear that if you do buy a vehicle with a WOF over a month old, if its your fault for not accepting it as AIWI, or the sellers fault for not advertising it as such.

Just go though and change all those [ i m g ] blocks so your URLs don't have the "?action=view¤t=" part in them.
