well there ya go. i dont know anythin about autos, horrible things that they are
-
oh yep ill have a search for that. i got that pic already but cheers man, got a few ideas off that
-
im currently panel beatin the engine bay on the esky, gettin out all the factory defects, taking off all the little clips that hold wiring (hopefully end up with almost no visible wiring), and shit like that, just wonderin if anyones got any nice pics of mk2 escort engine bays, prefferebly with crossflows in them but doesnt really matter.
cheers

i thought you had to re-drill the 1600 one? they flywheels are differnt sizes. also for some reason i think the auto engines have bigger flywheels? i could be dreaming tho.

youll still have to move the hole in the tunnel where the stick comes out back atro
you dont have a single piece driveshaft do you?
-
haha sweet
-
sweet as. im not sure about certing them at all.
i was gona try and use the escort mounts and bolt them back where they were origonally but it was gona imposible and no where near worth it, its kinda annoying coz in the floor of the escort the front is raised up where the 2 front bolts for the seat go in, so if you do it the way i showed in the pic you have to put some more spacing to raise the back up to the same level.

awsome. anyone got a single piece auto drive shaft for sale?
-
put some square steel plates under the floor and both up through from the underside, just get some roughly 6cm by 6cm plates and bolt through them too so it doesnt rip through the floor if you crash.

oh real, thats good as. does the auto shaft need to be shortened or anything? or just completely bolt straight in?
cheers

im not sure if you'd need to get it certed, mines not on the road yet so i dunno. as long as the warrant guy could see it was safe, bolted to the floor and welded properly you might be ok?
-
dont you have to use a sierra clutch and get the escort flywheel machined to fit it?
-
haha yea... auto shaft... sure it is.
my mistake, should learn to read. sorry
-
learn somethin every day
maybe its for the flux capasitor...

im goin out to the shed now to try it. haha

havent done honda ones specificly man but would be pretty much the same with any japa seats. just get some boxing from industrial supplies, think of how to bolt the seat to the boxing and then bolt the boxing straight to the floor.
heres a pic of how i did mine
-
wouldnt it be for the vacuum advance on the dizzy?
-
the sierra gearbox is a few inches longer than the origonal escort 4 speed. i have a single piece escort driveshaft and a sierra box ready to go in my esky and the splines are NOT the same. im gona have to mod a sierra driveshaft, or apparently a cortina one can fit. either way its not a straight swap.
some people say that the box doesnt fit properly in a manuel gearbox tunnel and it needs to be beaten out a bit and the auto ones better, but i had an auto escort converted to just a 4 speed manual and as the tunnel was a lot bigger the clutch peddal was almost rubbing on the tunnel and my foot was always when clutching. was really annoying.
